done Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 Hey everyone, I am a few months out and really pulling in all the ideas I can. I am looking hard at the tracker 175 TXW http://www.trackerboats.com/boat/specs.cfm?boat=2998 . What I like: - Motor is not HUGE (meaning I can go out without draining my life savings yet still move around at a reasonable pace) - Aluminum hull just prefer the lower maintenance, lighter weight, ect. - Features - comes with a TM, and fish finder - Console steering and 3-4 person capacity (my main reason for a larger boat, I want to take all my daughters out with me) - Size - I want something I can still get easily into my drieway, easily tow around while still be large enough to be stable for me to stand up front or back and fish. - Price - seems reasonably priced - Dealerships _ I have 2 tracker dealers within 20 minutes of my house. Makes any warranty/service work easier to get done I plan on buying a new boat. I want something I know the maintenance record on. I plan on keeping it till it rots into pieces and sinks into the lake. I do the same thing with my cars (buy new and keep till they have 150,000 miles on them or more) So, all that being said, I wanted to throw this out there, to see if there are any other similar brands/models you guys have seen/owned that you would rank up there (particularly with my reasons for wanting this one), as well as any gotchas with these specific trackers that I would want to know about before buying. Thanks everyone. Quote
Super User Long Mike Posted March 27, 2009 Super User Posted March 27, 2009 Tracker. It's just a good, solid boat. Quote
Super User firefightn15 Posted March 27, 2009 Super User Posted March 27, 2009 I think there is one right over there in Matthews that might be up fo sale. I heard the owner just bebuilt the whole boat. 8-) I have a used but in good shape 16' aluminum w/50hp merc that I picked up a couple of years ago. I would love to have the "ultimate" rig, but this one fits the bill and the motor runs decent. Most all of my fishing is on smaller waters, so I have no real need for speed. While I don't abuse the boat, a scratch here and there isn't hurting it either. That said, if I were in the market for a new one, I like the Trackers and think about pulling the trigger on one often. Nice boats. Quote
Btech Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 HAHA HAHA HAHA *Cough* HAH.... Oh ... Yeah Funny Fire, that looks like a great boat Mstar ! Very Reasonable price. Think they will give you a package deal when you buy one for me too Quote
STK001 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 It's been a little while since I last fished on a Tracker but the one memory that's stayed with me is all of the deck space that it had to offer...I mean it was all deck! Plenty of storage, easy to handle, comfortable boat to fish out of. It's a great fit for you're going to be using it for. I will say that I looked at the Aluminum Triton's and those are pretty darn sweet too and have tons of deck space. I'm not sure about price difference but I would guess the Tracker might be a better deal for you price wise. Enjoy your boat and your time with your daughters! Be safe out there. Quote
jagdbdg Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 Its a good boat but you will hate the rod locker its awful. You have to bend your your rods to get them in and the holders will scratch the finish off your rods. I bought one in January, 09 model, hated the rod locker so much I traded it in and got a Nitro X-5. The rod locker on the 175 does not open over the lip of the deck, terrible design. Quote
BRIAN77703 Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 really really nice boat man. go get out there and catch em. Quote
Super User Jig Man Posted March 27, 2009 Super User Posted March 27, 2009 If you are a first time boat buyer you will probably be happy with the Tracker. If you are looking at other boats look at the Xpress, GIII, Lowe, etc. If you plan on good service then you had better get a good local dealer because you won't get much from corporate. Quote
TRYTOFISH Posted March 27, 2009 Posted March 27, 2009 I would recomend moving up to the 18'. the storage is much better especially rod storage. you can get a 7' rod in an 18. i have a tracker targa, the boat is built like a tank. only complaint i have is that the quality of the finishing of the interior. nothing major and easily fixed. stupid little thinks like carpet not tight on corners, things mounted crooked. all and all it is a very good boat for the money!
