Bass_Fanatic Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Just got married in January and I told the wife before we bought a couch, we were going to buy a boat. Im in college, so Im not exactly what you would call rich, so money is tight. I managed to find a 1989 18 1/2 ft. Basscat Pantera II with a Johnson 140 for $2,700. It is all in good shape and the motor runs great. Has compression on all cylinders and I ran it at about 55 mph. All I have to do is rewire teh bilge and areators, the wiring is very old. I also bought a Hummingbird 565 to mount on the front. Has a two year old MK 70 lb foot control trolling motor too!! I'm excited and cant wait for March 7th for our club tourney on Toledo Bend!!! mtnbasser Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 If I told my wife that she would have four couches on order. And the only boat I would have is my kids bathtub toys. Quote
tennwalkinghorse Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 If I told my wife that she would have four couches on order. And the only boat I would have is my kids bathtub toys. AMEN to that brother Good Luck with your boat and with your new life together Quote
R@ngerman195vs Posted February 17, 2009 Posted February 17, 2009 Now, first good day you can find, take her out there with you on the Lake and get her hooked (so to speak). She may spend the couch money instead on the Bait Monkey! LOL! Good for you Man! Enjoy!! ;D Quote
UPS VT Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 If I said something like that to my wife, I think I would be sleeping on the couch. Quote
Calcutta Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Hey, did your wife know couches float? Quote
gatorblazer Posted February 18, 2009 Posted February 18, 2009 Being that you got married a month ago, you probably can afford to use those man points. Wait a few years, get a kid on the way. Then you will learn to use man points wisely... Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted February 19, 2009 Author Posted February 19, 2009 Well, it sounded good and all but the truth is that her mom gave us her old couch, so we didn't have to buy one. ;D So, technically we did buy a boat before we bought a couch, but it sounds better to leave out the whole free couch thing. And yes, Im not stupid, I know better than to say something that will send me to the couch :. But I agree with R@ngerman, I need to get her hooked now!! Quote
UPS VT Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 And the truth shall set you free ;D Good luck getting the little woman hooked. Post a picture, of the boat that is so we can all see it. Quote
HossFly Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 WOW......just ...wow....... 'priority', baby, that's what i'm talkin' about.......... EAT,SLEEP(wherever),FISH, yeah that's MY motto...... Sounds like me, many,many,many(pattern..?)years agoooo.... Quote
drmnbig Posted February 20, 2009 Posted February 20, 2009 And yes, Im not stupid, I know better than to say something that will send me to the couch :. HAHAHAHAHA Listen up young grasshopper! You will find in the years ahead that it takes no more than a raised brow to land your butt on the couch. Good luck with that one! BTW, just messin' with you! If you can get the boat now and get it paid off you will be in much better shape. Once kids come into the picture the boat payment will be the first and easiest thing for her to make go away! Ask me how I know! Quote
Bass_Fanatic Posted March 26, 2009 Author Posted March 26, 2009 Alright, now I have bought a Eagle Fish Mark 320 and a Humminbird 565. Any opinions on which I should mount up front and which I should mount by the steering wheel. I am leaning toward the 565 up front for fishing and the Fishmark 320 for running? Quote
wagn Posted March 26, 2009 Posted March 26, 2009 It worked a little differently in my house. I told the wife she could get a new couch if I could get a new boat. It's a win-win situation for me. I've got my boat, and now when I get in trouble I don't mind sleeping on the couch. It's brand new and very comfortable ;D Quote
