Help deciding on depthfinder

I'm looking to get a depth finder for my kayak and am struggling to make a decision.  My main requirements are GPS, DI, SI, and a screen size no smaller than 7".  I'm willing to spend up to $800, but I really need to be able to justify it.  I had it narrowed down to Helix 7, but then started looking at the Lowrance Hook2 and Hook Reveal models.  The Hook2 models are heavily discounted and the Hook Reveal model has a $100 rebate currently.  I love the idea of the 12in screen model below and everyone always says get the biggest screen you can afford, but I'm thinking 12 might be to big for a kayak and run small batteries down quickly.  My gut is telling me that even though I'm willing to spend more its for a kayak and it's a no brainer to get the Lowrance HOOK2-7 TripleShot Fishfinder/GPS Combo that's $399.  Would love to hear everyone's thoughts and opinions.

You really can’t go wrong with any of those. Take a look at the Garmin Echomap units, they’re excellent and you get a lot of bang for your buck.

I just purchased the Garmin Echomap 9" model with the GT52 transducer.  $599.00 on sale at Bass Pro.  Normally $999.  So far so good!

Thanks I looked at that one and a few others but they are out of stock Bass Pro now unfortunately.

Did you also consider the Lowrance Elite Ti?

I owned the Hook and the Elite, and prefer the latter.

Me too. I had trouble with the hook 2. Had to do a hard reset several times every trip. The structure scan is much better on the elite ti2 qs well. Some people say the hook 2 has been good for them, but i had a bad experiance with it.

In short, the 'Hook' is a budget version of the 'Elite'.

I upgraded from a button-faced Lowrance Hook to an Elite Touchscreen.

After decades of button-punching, the touchscreen was a breath of fresh air.

Waypoints are created and navigated-to with the tip of my index finger (Tap...Done).

I’ve been looking at the elite and agree it’s  prob the better buy.  I think I may end up going that route.  I just have to figure out a good way to mount that transducer to a kayak.

I have the helix. The automapping is really nice. Allegedly the SI/DI is better than most.
