So I have had this reel for a while and never really found a ton of information about it.  Thought maybe one of Tatula experts could tell me what I have here.

I have seen that model, but there are a some differences.   The biggest one that I noticed is that the Thailand market did not produce a red one in the 8.1.1 ratio.  The boxes were different also, the Thailand market reels came in a red box.  Also not that you can tell from the pictures but the handles and grips were different also.

There were a color series of these reels for a while.  There is a yellow one too.  They are very rare.

I have seen pictures of the yellow Tatula.  The guy I got the reel from told me that there were only 15 of these reels made.

Are paint finishes typically that rough? That bottom picture ...

It is just the picture, the paint is a very bright red and the finish is just what you would expect.

I have one.  Ad said it was a Limited Edition...just as the link MountainMan83 posted states....EXCEPT there isn't an 8.1:1 ratio listed in the link.  Mine is also the XS.  Looks better in real life.  I've only had mine out of the box a couple times to look at.  Besides I've had more reels than rods since getting back into fishing in '09 so mine being a shelf queen is no problem.

They are a very nice looking reel, picture does no justice.   I put line on it, but don't think I ever fished it.  Looks NIB .  I am lucky enough that it is a extra reel for me also.  Probably just hang on to it, I have a regular Type R that I have used maybe 2- 3 times.

That is very similar to me.  I've used my regular (original) Type R like 3-4 times.  Not because I don't like it, but because I haven't been getting out much the past 3 years, and have had new or new-2-me reels I've been trying when I did go out.

I am very much in the same situation.  When I do get out I have a few reels that I love to fish and its hard to get away from them.  I have a T3 MX 1016 that I have been using a lot lately, man is it fun, that and my SV-105,

LOL  More of the same.  Sent my T3 MX out for cleaning and minor upgrades.  Problem is I make one cast and the line loads up on one side.  Line on reel is what came with it when I bought it.  Been meaning to spool new line to see if that helps, but honestly don't see why it should.  Will have to try that, tho, before sending it back out.

The Alphas SV105 was my first reel with an SV spool.  Overran and backlashed more than any other reel I had...with the exception of an older used Trion that came spooled with light braid.  Sent the SV out to a professional and now it is great.  Put the Trion on a HF and spooled with 17# mono.  Haven't backlashed it since.

BTW, when I started using a T3 (a T3 1016SHL), I kept wanting to engage the spool by pushing down on the cover when I switched to a different reel.  :smile1:  They aren't popular, but I enjoy mine.

EDIT:  The 3D Magforce is a great braking system.

I like my SV-105 a lot, I put the same SV spool in my Sol.

How light does the SV spool allow you to go?  I actually put a Presso spool in a Sol in an attempt to make a cheaper BFS reel.  Then I messed up and put 10# Super Natural on it because I wanted to try that line.  :(  It is going to come off and be replaced by some 6# Excalibur.  Just as an experiment because I don't think I need another reel for light lures (below 3/16 oz.).

I don't have a good enough rod to cast light baits on to really give a good review of how light  it will cast. Most of the baits I am using on it area 1/4 oz to 1/2 oz and it works as expected at those weights.   I like to fish spinning reels so I usually reserve the light stuff for those setups.
