As the husband/father of a family (me, my wife and 2 boys) that likes to go bank fishing a problem I run into is once we get to our destination I have to gather up 4-6 rods and carry them to the water. Doing so they get all jumbled up risking damage and a very high probability of getting hooks tangled up with other rods and such. I wanted like a suitcase that I could somehow keep them separated in and carry them and I ran across this. Does anyone have experience with this or something similar they would recommend?

I used a regular old rod carrying bag, the military green kind you find everywhere.

No lures attached was the only way I could make it work. Luckily knots dont take all that long.

I do the same, but don’t carry them in anything. I just put the hooks in the hook keeper and wrap the line around the rod a couple of times. That helps a lot more than you would think it does.

Just get some rod covers and they can carry their own.

I strongly suggest the guide gear Sherpa lined rod and reel carrying case available on Sportsman Warehouse website in both 3 & 5 rod/reel versions. I was gifted my 3 rod version at least 15 years ago from BPS and when I saw the 5 rod /reel version on Sportsman’s Warehouse I jumped on it immediately, best protection for the money in my opinion. Just make sure to remove or cover treble hooks before putting combos in bag.

You got a link? I tried Sportsman's and Google and did not find anything.

I use rod socks, reel covers, and gear ties. Those rubber gear ties work wonders!

Rod socks and lure wraps are key.  I also used some old velcro strips and a shoulder strap from an old work bag and made a similar carrier which works great.

I have 2 of the 5 rod versions and can also highly recommend them.

I use the Rod Runner, which holds 3. It works well, except the holders are built for either spinning or casting rods so you have to pick which ones you want, or buy an extra. For example the Rod Runner comes with 2 casting, 1 spinning holder, and I bought an extra spinning holder because my kids use spinning rods.

The Pro version holds 5, available at BPS.

I use the Rod Runner as well and this was the best thing I have found to carry rods for shore/dock fishing. Easy to take one rod out as needed and keeps the rod/tip/guides all off the ground so they don't get stepped on. Also really easy to strap in the back of a pickup and just drive to the lake.

I now have two and my buddy has one because he liked how well mine worked. I have the one that holds 5, but took the bottom one off because it makes it unstable. After using them for three seasons I have done some modifications to them, but the base model works. I only use the tubes designed for spinning reels, but can also fit baitcasters in as well as I just turn them around and hook the trigger of the rod on the elastic retaining cord.

I normally go with one other person and we have no problem carrying 6 rods. Four in the Rod Runner and one each that we are fishing with or just being carried, backpack for tackle and a large net in hand.

I purchased from Amazon. They also stock extra parts unlike the other places that carry the Rod Runner.

I would never carry rods for shore/dock fishing another way at this point.

I use rod wraps to bind say 3 rods together.  I then use a spinning rod sock to cover the 3 rods.  I also attach reel covers.

I made my own over a decade ago out of wood. If I had to the smarts to market it, it would have been very similar to the rod runner. I call it my rod quiver.

I designed it to hold 3 rods but you can hold more depending on the shape you choose. I initially planned to make legs for it until I realized I could just prop it on my bag. It will also stand upright on level ground.

I use the Rod Runner as well. I get asked multiple times a week about it. Great investment.

the system you show in your original post has an advantage that most responders' solutions don't address.  It gathers all the tips  together thus preventing the snagging of just one, which can easily happen with systems which don't gather the tips all together.  The most likely damage when carrying multiple rods is that one tip will snag on something, you  won't feel it, and it will snap.  By gathering them it will take a lot more force to damage any or all of them, you will notice and stop.  Carry with the butts facing the direction you are moving.

That 3/5 rod case from sportsmans looks sweet.  I m going to pick one up.

I've tried the rod runner, and it may be just what you need.  It wasn't for me.  Normally, I'm getting my kayak shuttled quite a bit and so taking rods in and out of vans and buses from my truck meant taking them in and out of the rod runner.  I also tried wraps, I found them to be a better solution until I got the mule.  It's like carrying a long slung rifle.  Now I use it even like I did today - just to keep thing tidy at the launch.  I do use rod socks and, if I have treble hook baits, a bait sack.  Here's 5 rods.

I have the sherpa and the cal coast. The cal coast is a better carrier, but it is harder to get an individual rod out of it. Great for transport though. The sherpa is nice to fish out of since you can get to everything without unsnapping and disassembling, and you don't need rod socks.

At this point 90% of the time I'm just using a pair of rod wraps and getting on with it.... but I don't have a use case where I need to get just one rod out at a time either.
