My dad's favorite band is The Doors...they are kinda weird...but there again I grew up with it so it just sounds normal to me I don't listen to metal as much as I used to but I love Tool and their first 3 albums are among my favorites of any genre. I don't think they're weird in a bad way but they are definitely unique and different. I'm not a big fan but I would put Radiohead in the weird category as well. Quote

Black Hawk Basser Posted July 8, 2020 Posted July 8, 2020 King Crimson is definitely strange. Modern day, check out Between the Buried and Me. They'll go from blast beat death metal to polka, back to more death metal, and then into something I'd describe as akin to elevator music. And that may be just a 2 minute slice of a 13 minute song. Anyone remember Green Jello? They were weird. Edit: I'm adding The Mars Volta. I love them, but they're a little too off the wall for some people. 1 Quote

Absolutely love L'Via L'Viaquez, but I had trouble getting into much else from them....I recognize the talent and appreciate what they did...just couldn't grab me like that first song I heard by them. Try the Octohedron album. There's quite a variety of sounds on that album. For me, this one is pretty close to 'all killer, no filler' status. 1 Quote

I have the Doors logo tattooed on my right forearm. My 12-year old grandson heard "Hyacinth House" the other day and thought it sounded pretty weird. I think he's weird...... For something different sounding for your girlfriend how about Type O Negative's October Rust album? Quote

LA woman is great..I bet I've heard that album all the way thru at least 100 times growing up. On cassette in my dad's old S-10 driving across country on our many moving trips. I've always been very partial to Crystal ship for some reason. 1 Quote
