kayaking_kev Posted July 5, 2020 Posted July 5, 2020 I had a young Raccoon in my Kayak, hooked myself with a Whopper Plopper Hook, and caught a handful of fish. It will be one we never forget! 4 Quote
Super User Teal Posted July 5, 2020 Super User Posted July 5, 2020 Poor raccoon. Little dude was so weak. He looked like enjoyed the ride tho. I've never hooked myself in the leg, that looked rough. Looks like yall still had a good trip. I liked how clear the video was. 1 Quote
Super User NYWayfarer Posted July 5, 2020 Super User Posted July 5, 2020 Crazy. ”Hello little buddy” at this point I thought, start the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the white rabbit. Whopper Plopper hooks are laser sharp. After getting hooked once, luckily not past the barb I bought some wire cutter fishing shears from BPS. Now I have a ritual for unhooking fish caught with the WP. First I secure them with fish grippers then I unhook. Don’t care if I lose the fish whilet securing them with the grippers it’s not worth the pain of getting hooked with the alternative method. 2 Quote

I had a few get loose in my kayak before with a WP in their mouth and was well aware of how dangerous it was, but then I go ahead and just lay the fish down myself to avoid a few spiders. Lesson learned! 16 minutes ago, NYWayfarer said: Crazy. ”Hello little buddy” at this point I thought, start the scene from Monty Python and the Holy Grail with the white rabbit. I see pictures all the time of people getting hooked by WP hooks in the FB Group Whopper Plopper Nation, but yet I had a brain fart or something and had to learn for myself. I got off easy compared to some guys I see who get stuck in the face, ouch! Quote
Coldbasser Posted July 7, 2020 Posted July 7, 2020 WOW I once heard that no good deed go unpunished. Looked painful with the hook & the poor young raccoon getting separated from his mom. cheers Quote
