Tackle warehouse and bass pro is wiped out at the moment. There’s a local shop in town where I live. He has plenty of the Mach Lews combos, p-line floroclear, and senkos. That’s about it.

Bass Pro, Cabelas and Scheels all have decent stock here. Dicks in our area has turned into soccer mom stores. For whatever reason Academy has not done well keeping their shelves stocked.

Last season I fished crank baits like a mad man. When Covid hit I bought a box full of them, multiple copies of each color.

This season I used a crank bait once haha. Figures right?

But hey, if things get worse I got a stock of Ozark Trail cranks I'll let go for a special price of $39.95 each!!! Yesss!!!!

I also bought an Ugly Stik Elite light. The guides were a little out of alignment, and I wanted to exchange it, but at that time I could find ZERO in stock anywhere.

The biggest guide wasn't aligned and I could not budge it. A few days later I was able to tweak the smaller guides though, and only a few needed it, and now it's perfect. Two piece rod so it worked out.

Yeah I have started stocking already due to this issue last year.  I noticed already some stores low on things again.

The Dicks Sporting Goods I went into the week before last was loaded. Every peg was plum full. Hard to find plastics and virtually every color of lure available. Dicks has a little higher prices than most but they will price match.

This is the first time I have been in a retail sporting goods store since September when most shelves were still quite bare. Wonder how long it will last.

I prefer to buy items in person rather than online because I don’t like waiting or paying for shipping.

Wow our local Dicks stopped selling tackle a year ago I found out two weeks ago only online now.

I am in the stocking phase already myself due to having been poorly prepared prior to COVID last year as well. All it takes is not being prepared one time.

Same with our local dicks. Went in store to see what they had for stock and had an employee tell my wife and I that they quit selling fishing gear due to it all being “high theft” items. Who has to steal a $3.00 pack of plastics??

I think retailers will be better prepared to handle a surge of customers this year than they were last year.  But ya, its always better to have extra than not enough.

All I gotta do is convince my wife of that ?

Wow I didn't get a reason why but its alright I usually went to Academy anyway.  Then again the local Dicks had just random colors didn't see anywhere else.

Oh and the buy so many get some free deals they used to have.

I wish they did that here with the colors.

Probably a lot of regional problems while others are in a normal mode. I refuse to use Walmart’s near me. Don’t know who the toolbags are that order stuff for them but they are terrible. While some of you guys have some great Wally Worlds by the amount of stuff you claim they have there.

The DICK’S in my area are no real prize but someone looking for a half decent setup and some overall lures to make an attempt to get started are in decent shape.

Here is my issue with my local DICK’S. There are a few relatively close to home. Here is a hypothetical but real true issue / scenarios. Let’s say you are a guy who likes the Strike King line of products. DICK’S is a Strike King Dealer. Say you might want to go buy even the slightest amount of a variety of top water, jerks, squarebills, med. divers or XD divers (let’s not even go into the soft plastics), you would have to go to 4 different DICKS. The one that has squarebill has no divers. The one with top waters has no jerkbaits. It’s not like they are gone or out of stock. The store never had them. I have no desire to go to 4 local DICKS to pick up Strike King Products.

Hence the reason to buy mail order. You’ll most likely get what you want and don’t have to waste your time not finding what you are looking for. All these stores are ok if you have nothing special in mind. I believe that do this on purpose so people just will go buy whatever. Guy wants two particular KVD 1.5 Hard Knocks, they don’t have any, he winds up buying three Jawbone lures because he impulse bought. I hope TW stays in business at least until I die.

My local DSG is loaded! Tons of tackle, rods and reels. They have definitely gone Googan as they have practically every Googan bait made in every color. Just about every peg full too, tons of plastics, cranks, jigs and spinnerbaits with a decent amount of top water mixed in as well (although not too many frogs other than Z-Man and Googan). They ARE a little pricier then most online stores but they do price match and you don't have shipping. Guess I'm lucky my DSG is still selling fishing gear!

I popped in to the local Scheels and it was stuffed. No supply problems there at least.

This is what the one near me is like too at the moment.  The listed price is higher than others, but they will price match.  And as I've stated earlier, buying in person beats online because of shipping and delays.  When you buy it in person, you can use it immediately.  When you buy it online, you wait.  TW has a great selection and offers a reasonable price but every time order something from there its at least a week before it even ships out.

I assume you're talking about the one in EP?  I was there in July 4 days after it opened and it was plum full but I heard within 10 days it was bare.

Yep, the EP location. When I stopped in to take advantage of their pricing on Mitchell RZT reels in November, it was loaded up again. Popped in earlier this week to check on something and it was still full.

July might have been a blip.

July was bad for retail stores in person.  Actually most of the open water season was to be honest.  When I was there, I asked several associates if they thought they could keep items in stock during this surge and they said "hopefully."  They were wrong.  No retailer was immune to the demand during that period.  That's why I had to start ordering online instead.  It will be interesting to see if these places with good stock now in the off season can keep up with increased demand when spring arrives.

I'm only expecting two more things.

Fury 703SF from Legacy - they say they'll have them by mid-Feb

3607-10 boxes - finally cancelled the TW order of those from two months ago as their 'due in date' keeps getting pushed further and further out. ordered them from Scheels with PayPal...they have them in stock.

Yeah I heard that seen dicks sold the  new swim bait contender they are making now.  I thought I would pop in and look at it then realized no more fishing camping and sports only basically.

The Dick's near the Indy area has no fishing gear anymore, The last time I was there it was all major team sports. Luckily there was a Cabelas across the street I wandered over to so I could grab some stuff.

Dicks has changed a lot since they stopped with the AR stuff.

I was in Huntington Beach yesterday, just south of the port of Long Beach where quite a bit of merchandise comes across the Pacific for distribution to various parts of the US.  Out of the harbor, I counted 24 full sized cargo ships anchored in the channel, waiting for their turn to come into the port to be unloaded.  This bottleneck is part of the supply chain issues y'all are talking about.

The first image in the link below will give you an idea of what it looked like -

You are right about that. Go buy a few things and go and use them while it’s on your mind and thinking about it.

About this time of year I start to get my ducks in a row as far as baits, replenishment, spares, bulk line purchases, some terminal tackle an all. In all honesty I don’t buy much when the season starts till It end in the fall. I have a list (fairly short this year) on side of fridge I work off of. I’m pretty much a creature of habit but I do like messing with pattern of a particular bait.
