RedRob Posted July 3, 2020 Posted July 3, 2020 Ok I have an Exist in a 2000. I move it from a SC pan fish elite UL. To a SC legend xtreme Light action. I also have a legend X in a medlight. That I use it on but also have a Shimano stella fj 2500 that goes on the medlight also. I like the stella but prefer the exist. So on Daiwas site it shows the weight of the 1000 and 2000 to both be 5.5oz. The 2000 on an ul just kinda looks and sorta feels big. It balances nice. Was thinking should I get a 1000 for the UL and leave the 2000 for the light and ML? Or should I get a 2500 and move the stella out? I don't need the extra drag weight. So that's no issue. I run 4lb on 1000 series 6lb on 2000 and 8lb on 2500. This puts the current exist 2000 with 6lb on my pan fish elite at the top of the line rating which does shorten my casting. Which with this little light weight is already short enough. So 1000 or 2500? Fishing wise I do some trout. Lot of large and small mouth bass and lot of crappie. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 3, 2020 Super User Posted July 3, 2020 I use 2000 size on my UL. Actually the 1000 and 2000 are the same frame only different in spool size (2mm bigger on 2000). I choose 2000 for that bigger spool would benefit a little bit of distance and prolonged line twisted. If you think 2000 is a little too big, you might have to go down 500 or 750 size which available in Shimano line up. I wish someday Daiwa will bring back 750 size in those middle end reel. compare Tatula LT 1000 with Ballistic FW 2500S-C (compare same body as 1000) Tatula 1000, Kage 2000 and Ballistic 2500 all on 1000 frame. compare with shimano 750 1 Quote
RedRob Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 Good to know. Nobody has the 1000 in stock so couldn't look at them side by side. I have that Sahara a 1000. So the 2500 exist is probably what I'll go with. How you like that Kage. Can't find one of those in stock either. Wish Daiwa would put out the Ballistic in a 2000. They did on the EX. Have the Ex in a 2000 and 2 Ballistic LT's in 2500 the EX is a tank compared to the LT's. Its not really to big just the exist 2000 on the SC panfish elite is less than 8oz total weight that light weight makes the reel look out of place more of a mind thing. And my mind isn't always right. 2mm difference in spool isn't enough to get me to buy it. Was hoping it would have been a slightly smaller frame. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 3, 2020 Super User Posted July 3, 2020 Ballistic FW and new 2019 LT (JDM) come with 2000SS (Super Shallow). You can order one now at very good price from Tackle Warehouse. The Kage LT is just Tatula LT with 3 xtra bearing and a little bit of cosmetic change. If you are in Stella and exist crowd, you wouldn’t like the Kage. To me Tatula/Kage is smooth and less effort to spin comepare to my old shimano Stradic ci4 or Sahara, but Ballistic FW even has lower inertia. I can feel the difference right away, thanks to Zaion Rotor. My friend use Stella 500 and he just recently ordered Soare ci4+ 500. He likes it a lot smooth and light. BTW he can cast the same 1/16oz jig on Stella 500 further than me. I’m suck at spinning lol. Quote
Super User OkobojiEagle Posted July 3, 2020 Super User Posted July 3, 2020 If you're buying Stellas & Exists you're into the sport deep enough you don't need our help with your decision... oe 1 Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 3, 2020 Super User Posted July 3, 2020 My son used his Shimano Stractic 1000 for decades for bass fishing with 6 lb mono on a medium fast 6'6" Phoenix split shot rod. Ultra light a 750 would be appropriate. 1 Quote

There are times I fish 3-5 days out of the week and times Ill go a 2 or 3 months and not wet a line. I am at that point in life that I can splurge more now. 1 Quote
RedRob Posted July 4, 2020 Author Posted July 4, 2020 And don't get me wrong when I said end up with both and splurge. I'll get 1 this year pretty sure won't be both. Quote

I have the JDM Ballistic 2000SS-XH mounted on a Major Craft Troutino TT-722PE/LX (7'2" Light Power, Fast action, rated for 2g - 10g lures) and find the balance and ergonomics of the combo to be very satisfactory. Am considering getting a 2nd one now... Quote
Super User Darren. Posted July 4, 2020 Super User Posted July 4, 2020 Wow, great to be able to choose from those reels! As a huuuge fan of 1000 Shimano Stradics, I am all about that size for virtually all of my bass fishing. I've got mad respect for Daiwa reels, too, and if I had the money I'd be all over the different varieties between Shimano and Daiwa spinning reels. Quote
