The age old question but not finding that much specifically ..

I use 15 to 20lb braid now.. lately been fishing a lake with a massive lily pad field that is very thick with nice pockets... so yup dig in issues on hook set and hauling them back thru and waiting for line to snap.

From my kayak I am bombing and reeling back pocket to pocket with a Frog.. using a 7'2 heavy fast with Curado dc. Jumping to a 40lb line or even 65 what am I am going to lose roughly 30' casting distance for a ballpark guess? Yes we all know there are factors in this I am just asking a rough guess. "Just"  as a example if I'm sending it 130' on 20lb should I expect roughly 100' on 40lb.

I've used 20 on a baitcaster and IMHO it doesn't cast much further than 50. With 65lb I don't think you'll lose much distance.

Best thing to do is spend the money for 50 to 65 lb. braid and find out. Sure, it's expensive line; it'll probably cost you 20 bucks, plus or minus. But then you'll know, and not have any doubts. And that is a great feeling.   ?   jj

I've got to second this. Try it and eliminate all doubt.

I don't fish lighter than 30 lb braid on BC. I recently swapped from 65 lb Power Pro to 50 lb J Braid and it cast much better. I think mostly due to the spool not being almost emptied on a long cast.
