Luke Barnes Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 For people that have used it, what does line conditioner actually do? Is it for mono, copoly, and fluoro? If it makes them smoother and less memory I want to try it. Also what brands are good? Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I fish all mono lines, leave one heavier casting outfit for frogs. I don't see any benefit to line conditioner for my own fishing. Most of the guys who use flouro lines like it, to make the line more limber and easier to handle, es specially on spinning reels. From what I understand KVD line conditioner is a favourite 1 Quote

GReb Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 I have 20 pound Flouro on several reels and they would be useless without KVD conditioner. I don’t typically use it on anything else though. Quote
Luke Barnes Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 Im thinking about going fluoro on one reel and that's mainly why I'm asking Quote
Super User QUAKEnSHAKE Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I only use 16# Sniper Fc I have tried conditioner didnt see much benefit so the line that is on my reels currently dont have conditioner and dont miss it. Quote
Super User fishballer06 Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 KVD Line and Lure. Don't leave home without it. 2 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I use copolymer and mono..I use kvd line and lure...does it help? I'm not sure but I think so..so I use it Quote
Jaderose Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 I thought KVD was hokum until I actually got some a couple of years ago. Casts are smoother and farther. It does reduce line memory. Now my reels usually get a couple shots after every trip and I run the line through a paper towel soaked in it when I'm respooling. It just flat works and I DO recommend. BTW...when they say to not let it freeze...do not let it freeze. I had a bottle that did and it pretty much ruined it Quote
Luke Barnes Posted July 2, 2020 Author Posted July 2, 2020 I'm headed to bass pro soon and if they have the KVD I'll grab it and try it. Quote
Super User Spankey Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I use the KVD and Reel Snot. I can't say one is better than another. I for the most part only fish Fluoro and Mono, it works with a noticeable difference. I'm pretty anal about my line and keep my line fresh by changing it a lot. Quote
Jaderose Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 First time you use it, tie on a heavy plug and cast in your yard as far as you can. Give what's left on your reel a good squirt or 2 and then squirt some in a paper towel and reel your line through it. You'll be right as rain Quote
Super User WRB Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I use a product called TangleFree, DTH TangleFree by Punisher lures. 2 oz sqweeze bottle I keep in the vest pocket and apply it as need throughout the day when Using FC line to wet it. I also use TangleFree on the spinning reel line to reduce memory. Not a fan of KVD line conditioner. Tom Quote
BigAngus752 Posted July 2, 2020 Posted July 2, 2020 ? on the KVD Line and Lure. I use only braid and Yo-Zuri Hybrid on my baitcasters. There is a noticable difference in the Yo-Zuri when I use the KVD. Quote
Super User JustJames Posted July 2, 2020 Super User Posted July 2, 2020 I use when first spooling braid to help prolong fading in color. It willeventually faded anyway lol. I use in some copolymer line especially the one that been sitting for a long time and developed heavy coil. It help for a few trips and eventually become heavy coil again. Quote

Luke Barnes Posted July 3, 2020 Author Posted July 3, 2020 I picked up a bottle of KVD LL today. I'm eager to try it on a reel of copoly and got some fluoro to put on another reel I'll use when I spool it. Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted July 3, 2020 Super User Posted July 3, 2020 My reels get a couple squirts of KVD L & L before every trip on whatever it's spooled with (braid, fluoro, mono, or copolymer). Quote

Global Moderator Mike L Posted July 3, 2020 Global Moderator Posted July 3, 2020 I use the KVD stuff religiously for 20# Shooter. All other combos have Sniper from 12# to 16# and only need to use it occasionally. Mike Quote
