Someone just told me about a JDM rod called Major Craft. Has anyone used these rods and have an opinion?

I have experience with both their JDM and USDM rods and have been very impressed. All models seem to perform very well at their price point. Just note they fish a little lighter than their specified powers.

I have the Major Craft MS-1 Casting Rod 7'3" Med Hvy, I really like it for jigs and other bottom contact baits, it's light and sensitive , great value for the money.

I have a MajorCraft Benkei 6'5 UL/F that I'm using for finesse lures, and it is excellent quality. It is a lot more sensitive than I expected, so much so that I'm curious about their heavier rods for bottom contact.

I have two MC rods. I love them. I have an ultra light with an extra fast action that is my all time favorite UL rod regardless of price. Well made rods that have really nice actions.

The Corzza line is really nice.

I have 3 MC rod, 2 L/BF casting and UL spinning. They all work as they should. Benkei series is best bang for buck, not too expensive but light and sensitive.

The speedstyle impress me the most S632UL, with solid soft tip that I can cast 1/64oz trout magnet the furthest 40-50’ while backbone can handle 2lb bass easily.

I think MC are excellent quality using Fuji components light weight and well balanced. For the price point MC good rods, I use the Splash-It casting rod and MH spinning rod.

Based on Tom's recommendation about 4-5 years ago, I picked up a 6'10 Don Iovino MXF baitcasting rod and love it for Ned rigs and other plastics.  In fact, the rod made a trip overboard last year and I just figured I'd get used to one of my other rods. Well, I missed it so much, I ended up buying another one, exact same model.  I don't recommend doing that, but I do recommend the rod.  Agree with others, its somewhere in between a ML and a Medium, but that's what I wanted.  Light, sensitive, good components and at a very good price point.

A friend of mine stopped by to show me his new bass boat. He was heading out to Castaic with his wife for ride around the the lake. I asked if he had a his tackle and he didn't! I loaned him my MC spinning rod with a drop shoot rig and a box of worms I use for the lake. Suggest a spot to try, he texted me a photo of a bass he caught his 1st cast! It doesn't get any better.

You should look at the 6’9” mxf drop shot rod. It fishes more like a ML+ than a medium in my hands and at the price you can’t go wrong. Mine is paired with a 2500 size legalis and 10# braid.  Keep an eye out for 4th of July sales and maybe you can save a few bucks.

Are you looking for spinning or casting? Are you looking for true finesse or all around rod? Which series of MC is in your interest? Are you going with JDM or USDM?

I use casting Benkei Light 6’7 lure weight 1/16-1/4 for anything from 1/16 crappie jig all the way to ned and Neko rig for bass.
If you want dropshot for 1/16-1/4 oz and a true finesse, I think ML is the way to go (and that is my next rod is gonna be, Benkei to be exact). If you gonna dropshot plus light Texas rig or senko type then go M.
MC bass rod is pretty stiff with backbone, I checked 6’9 MXS M/XF yesterday (300 bucks) This rod is super light but stiffer from bank all the way to tip more than my Tatula 7’ M/F.
I’m not sure which model @evilcatfishgot but to me Benkei fish higher than they stated. Even my MC go emotion L/BF which have softer tip and kind of MF fish above that rated.

Here Benkei L on action, you will see the rod bend when I tried to pull that d**n catfish. The Rig 1/16oz Neko rig with cut off Zman and 6” roboworm.

i've been trying to purchase 1 of their bfs rods for the past 6 months or so, and am not having any luck.  i tried to get the corzza 1st, and recently been trying to get the speed style, but am unable to purchase from majorcraft america site.  i've contacted the thru their website and instagram, and their response time is pretty hideous.

Looking for a spinning set up for Ned and dropshotting.  Nice video..I saw you went from a R/H reel to L/H reel. I use a L/H myself.  Just feels more natural after years of fly fishing and using spinner rigs for Blue fish back east.

Thanks for the heads up on MC being"non responsive"  I was looking at the Corzza and the MS1.

I never thought of a L or ML BC rod .. I'll really have to look into that.  One of the lakes I go to a 2-2.5 is considered a Big fish with average being 1-1.5.  It could be fun there.

You might have to get from eBay but the best price and fast shipping gotta be digitaka. I’m not really good with spinning, less experience compare to others, but for dropshot and Ned rig I love my crucial dropshot specific 1/8-3/8oz.

Speedstyle is another MC series that is very sensitive and Super light. I have S632UL, being a solid tip rod lure rate on this rod is down to 1/64oz but backbone is still there.  This is my favorite bluegill rod for 1/64oz trout magnet but have caught quite a bit of 1-2lb bass with it. For you I really think ML 1/8-3/8oz would be fun.

Check the backbone of this rod and why you don’t really need more than ML.

on side note, I went into local store yesterday to buy MC Don Iovino spinning 6’9 M to replace my broken crucial as @WRBrecommended. Too bad the store out of this rod and only have MSX.

I couldn't find the 6'5 UL Benkei except for Ebay: https://www.ebay.com/itm/Major-Craft-BENKEI-BIC-65UL-BF-Baitcasting-Rod-for-Bass/373002968530?ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AIT&_trksid=p2057872.m2749.l2649

That was shipped from Japan, but it came well packaged and took about 5 business days.

try 7 Seas Pro Shop in Thailand. They have tons of major Craft Rods and many others not available in the US. Including a lot of rods by Abu, Fenwick, Daiwa etc that you probably didn't know they even made. The fishing rod selection available in the US is embarrassingly narrow.

7 Seas have decent prices and they are known around the world...(except the US, of course. WE get BPS)
