So in the next 2 weeks I’m looking at buying a trolling motor for my new boat.  I’ll have about $2000 to spend.  I’d like spot lock and the ipilot feature.  I’m leaning towards motor guide. I like the idea of the wire less remote and foot pedal. However, a Minnekota would be ok to if I can’t find the motor guide locally.  I’m assuming both are well known brands. Is there any pros or cons to each brand

I’m looking in the 70-80 lbs thrust and keep it with 24v system . it’s going to be out fitted to a sea nymph that I’m going to use aluminum to cover the open bow. Do the come ready to mount and install out of the box? If I bought it online what is the normal shipping time on a item that big.

I don't know if you ever received an answer to your question, elsewhere.  If you are looking at the Motorguide Xi5 or any of the motor series that have existed for a while you may be ok.  As for their latest and best offering, the Tour Pro, I do not have good news.  (See below.)  The Minn Kota Ultrex, Ulterra, and Terrova have all been around a while and are available also.

I actually went with Terrova with 80 lbs thrust and 60 inch shaft.  I was dang lucky to get it too.  I called 4-5 differnt places looking for either a motorguide or minnekota. Looked all over the net looking for either brand.  The cabelas I bought this from in Saginaw only have 2 trolling motors left  in stock after I bought this one. the 2 that were left as of Thursday are the lower end models.   Most every model of trolling motor is on back order and they don’t know when they are getting more.  Thank you though for responding though
