Hey guys i am looking at getting back into tournament fishing and looking at grabbing a bulk spool of fluoro. Is Sunline Sniper still a good choice? I can get a 660 yd bulk spool for just over $50. Any other better choices for comparable costs?

Sniper is still one of the best values as far as performance for the price. Sunline Assassin is another similar line from the same manufacturer that fishes really well and can be found for a good price. I still use a couple other kinds for certain applications, but I have Sniper or Assassin on probably 75% of my reels.

Tatsu. Expensive but well worth it. Best fluorocarbon that I have ever used.

$200 for the bulk spool. I couldn't do it.

Can't make that decision for you.

Tom,

I primarily use spinning rods in Michigan but have casting reels also. For the Sniper i like 7 pound fluoro to 16 pound SX1 braid. I have Shimano FH reels.

It's like the old question, is the NRX worth $100 more than the GLX?

Sunline Sniper is a good choice and Seaguar Invizx is equal, flip a coin.

Nice Smallies in your avatar!

Tom

PS take a look at Sunline FC Leader if you are using braid.

Thank you sir! Unfortunately in 2018 I moved away from eastern Michigan and Lk St Clair to take a better work opportunity. I just recently found a bass club out here to join which I am looking forward to. I like green fish but the fight isn't the same vs a giant smallmouth bass.

Sunline Shooter is superior to Tatsu but Tatsu is a close second, if you are looking to get back into Tournament fishing you would want what gives you an edge not what's the best value.

I prefer sniper over tatsu regardless of price.   Tatsu is very manageable but was not as durable as sniper.

No Doubt.

The MagnaFlex was an EBay purchase where they were basically giving it away.

Purchase a few years back - after I had written off the first

versions of FC - kept breaking off.

Was making me crazy !

Mostly backing, big swimbait & topwater line at this point.

When I got my first Fenwick Silver Hawk, I thought it was stiffer than a 2x4. So I went down to the bait and tackle store, and the guy there listened to my problem, then sold me Magnaflex.

I no longer use rods that stiff, but if I did, Magnaflex would be the best solution I could think of. You got a real deal!       jj
