Super User Teal Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 Been such a good summer so far for my son who just turned 10 last week. So far he has broken his p.b twice fishing. 3.8 on a Texas rig worm, 4.6 by swimming a jig with craw trailer. Had me.going out of.my.mind!!! In baseball this year he has done good. He plays multiple positions even tho he's a lefty like me and it awkward playing 2nd and 3rd base. Well tonight while we were up 19 -6 will two outs, the coach asked his buddy (another player) to pitch and close out the game since our pitcher from last night was on rest, our starter tonight was over his pitch count, and our regular closer was struggling in a bad way. The boy told.the coach no and that He wasn't ready. So they asked my boy. He took the ball out of the coaches hand and said, yes sir. I'll show you what i.got. He closed it out...he walked two initially (after getting to a full count each) and then struck out a very good hitter. Very proud daddy moment. My son has never.pitched a game before..not.even in practicw.. He was so calm, the.moment wasn't to big.for him and he looked for doing it. PROUD DAD HERE. IT may not sound like much to talk but it was.to me. You guys have any proud dad moment this summer? 14 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 27, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 27, 2020 He's been fishing since he was 2, but he's starting to get the hang of it pretty good now. On our family camping trip at the end of May, he was wearing them out on a Ned rig and ended the trip with his new PB smallmouth. It wasn't a big fish, but he was proud of it and it was big enough to put up a pretty good fight and he caught it completely by himself, even had the patience to get his 1/16oz Ned rig to the bottom in 20+ feet of water and leave it there, better than a lot of adults can do. 8 Quote
Black Hawk Basser Posted June 29, 2020 Posted June 29, 2020 You'd see it in the Latest Catch Pics thread - A couple weeks ago my boy absolutely put on a clinic with a hair jig that I tied. It's especially meaningful for the both of us, because he's extremely interested in my jig/fly tying and he got a kick out of catching all of those fish on dad's creation. Also, it was the first time that he outfished me - almost 2 to 1 that day. 4 Quote

My 16 year old son wanted me to show him how to use a baitcaster. He picked it up quick. Only 2 backlashes. First one I fixed for him. Second one he was able to get out by himself. He caught the only topwater fish that day on a Whopper Plopper. 2 Quote

Super User slonezp Posted July 14, 2020 Super User Posted July 14, 2020 My son wasn't happy with his annual raise he got at work. His annual raise has been less every year the last 5 years yet he has taken on more responsibility. We put together a letter for his boss and he gave it to him this past Friday. Had a meeting with his boss today after work. His boss gave him more then he asked for because he didn't want him to feel underappreciated. Boss also set some goals for the kid and told him if he reaches them by June of next year, he will be very happy. Kid makes more than twice I did when I was his age. More power to him. Saturday we were on the lake fishing in front of his favorite house on our home water. It's valued between $4M-$5M. He said I'm going to own that house one day and when I do I'll give you a room....LOL. I said that's fine with me. 1 Quote
