It was time to move on as nothing is going to bite with that going on. I will add unleashed dogs to the list. Especially on a public walking trail. No matter how early you are out there still might be people about. I was coming on to a trail from the waters edge and walked right up to a unleashed dog yesterday. She started growling at me. Owner walked up and said "She's friendly, it's the fishing poles she is reacting to." I never said a word just waited for them to pass so as not to provoke the dog and then moved on. That happened to me recently. The dog growled and ran toward me. The owner pulled him back. He should be glad he did because I was carrying that day. Quote

We have fun during football season and we are glad to have another SEC guy with us. Geaux Tigers! Quote
Sphynx Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Had a bunch of broken Corona bottles and caps, mission tortillas bags, tecate cans and other signs of a party themed after the obvious theme, including a bunch of cigarette butts and other less than hygienic items, plus piles of a heavy monofilament line and hooks, bumper got ripped off my rig yesterday afternoon so I had nothing more productive than to do a courtesy police call around my favorite fishing hole, but the next time I see a party like this going on I will be insisting they clean up after themselves, and I know exactly who is responsible as I saw the party in progress. kayaking_kev Posted August 21, 2020 Posted August 21, 2020 Watching a grown man catch a decent bass from a small public park pond and throw it on it up on the bank while he kept fishing. I thought he was going to take it home and eat it, (which bothers me enough being out of a small park pond) after about 30 min. in the hot Summer sun, he picks it up and walks over to his 3 friends and shows it off and puts it back on the ground for another 15 minutes+. After that, he all of sudden picks up after it's been out of the water and in the sun for at least 45 minutes and is surely dead, takes it over to the water and puts it back in. The best public pond to fish in the County is well on it way to being ruined in just one season. Not a lot of people even knew about it before this virus crap. Now everyone who finds it, tells everyone they know and they all tell everyone they know and now I've seen a few people fish it who keep the bass and this guy above who just kills them. I used to be able to catch double digits just about every time there, and the last time I was there I spent about 5 hours and didn't catch a single fish. Quote

I’m sure I’m like most here. If I get a snag that’s not gonna release, I cut the line while holding the line to the lure, then pull it until the knot breaks. Then I’ll pull the line in and toss it when I get home (unless a trash can is near). Maybe those using straight 65# braid have difficulty with that. Quote

I'm afraid that by the time Covid starts to wind down, there are going to be a lot of people with a pile of fishing junk in the corner of their garage, laughing about the time they "tried fishing" the same way that I laugh about my failed attempt at Rollerblading every time I see the pair gathering dust in my garage. But I didn't ruin anyone's Rollerblading path when I gave it a shot (and by some miracle didn't put anyone else or myself in the hospital LOL)...but I think a lot of public bank fishing water is going to take years to recover for exactly the kinds of reasons you are describing, plus litter and similar mistreatment. I see it nearly every day at my subdivision pond. 1 Quote

Glaucus Posted August 30, 2020 Posted August 30, 2020 I have a couple more to add that have seemingly been a constant nuisance since my first post in this thread. When random people come over and stand right next to me to have an unsolicited conversation. They're ruining my ability to cast. When I'm fishing down a bank and people set up 15-30 yards from me, which happens to be exactly where I'm casting to and running my bait. They must think they're doing right and giving me space. They must also think everyone is casting straight out in front of them and letting a bobber sit for 15 minutes at a time. I feel like I would be smart enough to realize someone was running the bank and give adequate space. Quote

And I've never known a single smoker who doesn't just toss their butts wherever when they're outside. I'm not saying our BR smokers are the same, but I've never known one. It's disgusting hitting the water and seeing butts all over the ground and in the water just floating and waiting for a fish to inhale it. Then of course there's everywhere else too. Most annoying of all and what makes someone a truly awful person is littering playgrounds with them. All of my kids when they were little have picked them up. That's disgusting. 2 Quote

Rico’s Roughnecks Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 1. This is 100 % jealousy, haha! Boat anglers: even if I don’t see them, or I’m on a body of water that can’t support them, I know they’re out there. Probably catching more fish, too. 2. Thinking about golf course ponds while fishing the public park. Why the heck do you stock them if you don’t want people fishing them? You can take your 10+ pounders. I didn’t want them anyway! 3. Urban fishing spots: They’re littered, they smell bad, they’re overly fished, I’m afraid to touch the water because I don’t want to lose my hand/life. But, I go back because I caught that one bass 3 years ago, so I know they’re in there. 4. Beautiful, sunny, summer days. Why did I even bother fishing? It’s so nice out, but instead of enjoying it, it’s hot, I’m drenched, I’m low on drinking water, and not one of these fish want this dumb stick bait. Humor aside, not being at work is a win. 1 Quote
