TriStateBassin106 Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Hey BR, Felt like starting this thread for all us bank anglers to discuss what annoys us about fishing the shoreline so I'll start: -Getting my line crossed by some weekend angler who only uses inline spinners! -People feeding ducks right by me! So annoying ? -Casting parallel to the bank and the wind pushes your lure back into the shore! -Miles of Geese poop -Comorants What about you guys? What annoys you about fishing from the bank? Quote
Hewhospeaksmuchbull Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 People swim their dog where I'm fishing. Trash, especially line and hooks. Buggies kicking up dust clouds on levee road. People that have to listen to the fricken news when outdoors, Geez, Same for music. Annoying fish that will not bite my bait! People that want to talk, its like they don't see the rod in my hand. 5 Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 Trash/litter by “fellow” anglers Having baits come towards shallow water vs deep Having a nice fish head into weeds or brush instead of open water when reeling it in Goose poop lol Dog poop not lol Casting in tight spots and snagging hooks Difficult to dropshot Lack of mobility 3 Quote
Todd2 Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Ok, I fish out of my boat 90% of the time, but every now and then I'll hit a few ponds or a little lake nearby for a quick outing. What drives me nuts is when a boater at the lake comes in on me like I'm not there. I never do that in my boat, if I see folks on the bank, I either give them a very wide berth or go somewhere else. That drives me nuts. 8 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 Trash left behind from other anglers chafes my hide more than anything 10 Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 Trash. Snagging old braid that someone had to cut because they snagged. People in boats casting right in front of me. People training dogs. 1 Quote

galyonj Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 You know what really grinds my gears? When I'm fishing a spot and someone in a boat motors to within a cast of me and starts fishing that exact same spot. Some of y'all throw a hissy fit when another boat is fishing within sight of you on the water, but apparently it's okay to park right next to a dude that's stuck with maybe a hundred yards of fishable shoreline and nowhere else to go. You have the whole lake to do whatever you want in, so I invite you to motor off somewhere nice and secluded and **** ******** ** **** *** ** ****************. And I am sick and tired of picking up after people that weren't raised right. Just put your trash in the barrel that's RIGHT NEXT TO WHERE YOU DUMPED A DIAPER, A TWELVE PACK OF NATURAL LIGHT, AND 200 YARDS OF LINE. Some of y'all weren't beaten enough growing up, and it shows. You, too, can hitch a ride on the boat above and ***** ** **** ************ ****. Man, I needed that. Now I'm thirsty. 7 3 4 Quote
ike8120 Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 1. People that fish without a license- NJ no license needed if over 70 2. People taking fish that are size of your hand.(small hands) 3. The trash that people leave behind 4. When the state was shocking fish right in front of me 5. people swimming when the signs state "NO SWIMMING" 2 Quote

Super User RoLo Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 I believe in 'live and let live'; as long you stay within the law and don't infringe on the rights of others. As I've mentioned in the past, my pet peeve is littering. Given the opportunity, my wife & I have often hauled litter out of fishing & hunting grounds. Roger 1 Quote

The Bassman Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 Here's a different one, muskrat runs. Quick way to sprain an ankle. I have to disciple myself to never cast while I'm walking. I fell in one last fall and really messed up an already bad knee. 1 Quote
Squarebill79 Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 I hate when Im river fishing and Im 40 yards downriver from someone. They always launch some piece of cut bait out in the middle without enough weight so the current pushes it towards the bank right where Im casting. Then they get all ticked off when I snag their line. Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 Trash has to be my #1. #2 would be> keeping any fish you catch. I hate to say it but when I see someone in the areas I fish from the bank with a bucket it usually ends with me having a discussion about leaving trash at the bank, followed by "you should let those crappie get bigger". I then remind them how fast the fines rack up for undersized fish. I know I sound like I am complaining and I should probably mind my own business but when I fish I like show some respect for the water and the other people fishing. 4 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 People walking up and fishing right next to me as if that is ever acceptable especially during a disease outbreak. Just happened a couple weeks ago. Gear grinder number 1? Garbage I hate trash that leave trash...people are worthless and disgusting sometimes 2 Quote
Super User jimmyjoe Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 Well, it looks like we all have one thing in common; we hate trash and the people that leave it. jj 6 Quote

Revival Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Had a lady give her sons rocks to throw in the water right next to me. Don’t get me started on people feeding geese. Our ponds are pressured beyond belief as it is. 4 Quote
@reelChris Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 I can't believe no one has mentioned this yet but...tree snags. Overhead, next to me, behind me - tree branches seem to reach out and grab rods and line like nothing else. 2 Quote
Smells like fish Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Garbage left by fishermen. 95% of fishermen are slobs. Catfishermen are the worst. 6 Quote
Super User GreenPig Posted June 25, 2020 Super User Posted June 25, 2020 I don't bank fish public water so trash isn't a problem for me. But yellow flies, gnats, noseeums, and mosquitoes the size of hummingbirds gets old quick. 1 Quote
JediAmoeba Posted June 25, 2020 Posted June 25, 2020 Trash, especially fishing line. Livebait fishermen and the bucket militia are the biggest offenders. Beyond that the thing that bothers me, especially when I am not catching anything, is that I left the magic bait at home. If only I had brought my entire collection of tackle I would be slaying them!!! 1 Quote
