Does anybody buy the big 1lb spools? If so what is your go to? Where do you order from? I'm considering getting 1lb spools of 12 and 15 izorline xxx

I do buy bulk spools.

FC & Braid.

Already have a career supply of mono for leaders & backing.

Day in & day out - Amazon has the best prices

and that's often regardless of Anyone's 'sale price'.

Availability of certain popular brand's & test can be a concern at times.

But check these prices compared to TW -

Sort of ridiculous.

I've gotten most of my line from Amazon - mono, hybrid, braid. The couple spools I didn't get there were purchased from FishUSA - one because Amazon didn't have what I wanted in stock and the price was close, the other because Amazon wanted more.

I buy bulk of pretty much everything, unless I find a deal on a filler spool. Amazon and ebay tend to be the cheapest, unless there's a sale somewhere.

I am with A-Jay on Amazon.  If you keep watch some of the pricing is amazing.  I scored big on a 1000yd spool of 15lb Invizx by checking every day and then there it was, $85.

Quick look online an several retailers sell bulk Izor line in 1 lb approx 4,000 yard spools around $40.

Popular line out west for salt water anglers.

I got my Invizx 1000 yard of 8lb on ebay for $68.98, and a 15lb for $80 just last week. I don't know why people would pay the prices some of these retailers charge. It's nearly double at times.

With a little luck you may even get product that isn't counterfeit...

If you are buying from legitimate stores, that doesnt happen.  I have purchased a lot of reels through ABCD Sales and the prices are pretty good and great service.

It's happened.

Back when Seaguar stopped using 'level wind technology' it was tough to tell what was what.

I actually returned a couple of bulk spools of FC and repurchased them directly from Seaguar thinking I would get the real deal.  I was bummed when they were delivered and they looked exactly like the spools I returned.

Took a fat $$$ hit on that one.

Seguar has since put out a PR that straighten it out.

Either way, there's little risk IMO, as the Amazon return procedure is seem less & simple.

I've utilized it a few times for various items.

Exactly. The sketchy part is are you truly getting what you bought. Often it's easy to tell but on others it's not.

I could give you Big Game and tell you its Sunline Sniper, Berkley Trilene FC and 90% of people wouldn't know. That's why I stick to reputable dealers. Another thing is places like Amazon or Walmart that buy 10,000 units of a product. Who knows how long it's been warehoused deteriorating in 110 degree weather. I don't even buy food from Walmart as the last time I did I bought Slim Jims that were so dry and nasty, I had to throw them away. Nothing worse than a dry slim jim lol.

As with anything, it's buyer beware.

However at this point, having purchased from the manufacture as well as other vendors,

when comparing the packaging and more importantly 'the Seal',  anything different, tampered with or even missing

may be a #deadgiveaway

YMMV

If it's fluorocarbon, it won't deteriorate.

I've been buying my line from ebay and Amazon for years and have never gotten a bad spool. If it's counterfeit, they should open their own companies because they do a great job.

Not certain heavily preserved meat product & fishing line are even comparable.

Either way after 50 plus years experience - I'm the other 10 %.

I need to start buying in bulk but having 1k+ yards of fishing line lying around seems like an awful big commitment so I'm still trying out a few different products to try to settle on the FC that I'd be comfortable always defaulting to... I've tried suffix fc and it sucked so bad I pulled it off my reel within a week. Tried 12# InvisX but found it a little too weak to handle some of the monster stickfish I like to target. So far 15# InvisX is pretty close to getting the nod, but I just spooled up some 14# Sunline Sniper I'm hoping will impress

As for braid I really like the PowerPro Slick V2 stuff but every color I've bought so far basically fades to straight white within 3-4 fishing trips and basically loses whatever its "slick" coat is. So its great line for a short period of time. Gotta find a high vis braid that will actually hold its color.. not that white is any worse for my purposes than neon yellow but just like my bass boat I want my line to be F L A S H Y if its gonna be high viz

Something doesn't sound right to me. I use PP V2 and while it does fade, not in 4 trips. Daiwa J Braid losses it's color as you fish it lol. Sufix 832 is great line too. 832 and PP V2 is all I use.

What color V2 do you use? Admittedly my Onyx has held its color a LITTLE longer, but I got some Moonshine I was super excited about and the color is just... GONE after only a few trips. I was using it on a Jacob Wheeler rod that has micro guides and the first two trips my guides were just straight up yellow lol. Maybe the micro guides stripped the color faster?

832 is awesome line. The moss green does hold its color super well. I fish a few ponds that are super pressured and the fish will spook off any 30# braid on the water (even the moss green.. if you cast it over a school of 'em you can see boils everywhere as they panic away) which is the only reason I want high vis, since it'll only work on my resoirvoirs, if I'm gonna spook 'em I want it to look cool lol

I ran into the same thing on Amazon.  I thought that I had picked up a bad/fake bulk spool of Invizx but according to Seaguar and after much discussion, what I had purchased was the real deal.  Seaguar just did a poor job of spooling the line on the bulk spool.

I was lucky though.  Amazon refunded me my money and for whatever reason, sent me another spool that I did not ask for.  I contacted them and they said to keep it.   Crazy.   That spool was also poorly wound.  It has spots where the line crosses over and under each other and looks almost like it had been spooled around a backlash.  I shouldn't complain though.  It was free and it's good line.

Yes. I go as far as 100m spools of fluoro. And the big 1500 yard spools. I shop around, but stick to real sellers. There’s too much fake stuff out there.
