Is it possible to run two fishfinders off of one transducer?  If so how do you do it?  I got two fish finders for Christmas and would like to have both on the boat, didn't know if I would have to put two transducers on the boat.  thanks

Yes, you can use two head units with one transducer but not at the same time. You can also have two transducers with just one head unit, but can only use one transducer at any time. Lowrance/Eagle, and Humminbird have transfer switches and/or networking for that purpose.

Most boating fishermen use two sonar units and two transducers with one unit up front with the transducer on the trolling motor and the other unit on the boat console with the transducer on the transom or in-hull for shoot thru.

The bassboat I just sold had two sonar units up front with two transducers on the trolling motor and two sonar units on the console with two transducers in-hull with one on a transfer switch and one transom mounted.

Every boat I've had since they came out with chart recorders and eventually LCD units have had two sonars on one Xducer in the front and on the console. When looking for bait fish, structure etc, I prefer a flasher, when fishing and just keeping track of what's below me, I use the LCD. I keep a flasher and LCD in both locations.

I guess from that comment you can tell I've been doing this a long time.

It all depends on your units.  If they can't be networked and are Lowrance then there is a switch that allows both to run off one xducer but you have to switch them.

If they are Lowrance and can be networked and etherneted then you can have both looking at the same xducer at the same time.  I have 2 units and 3 xducers.  I can have them looking at any of the three at the same time.  One is primary and the other is slave.

Does anyone know of a switch for Garmin fishfinders and gps units?  I need a quick way to connect a Garmin 240 and a Garmin 430s together on a single transducer.  Thanks.
