rangerjockey Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 If I was looking in Arkansas I would look in Mountain home or Bella Vista. Mountain home is closer to Norfork than Bull Shoals but always seemed like a nice town, I have some family there. If you want to see Bull I would suggest hiring a guide out of one of the marinas like Pontiac, Oakland, or Bull Shoals boat dock. I wouldn't move there with the idea of bank fishing it. Another thing to add, If you look around K dock on Bull Shoals your within a half hour drive to Table rock. 1 1 Quote
AJ Hauser Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 Thank you so much @rangerjockey - looks like we got some homework to do. I saw Norfolk on the map, have you fished that as well by chance? Dang it would be nice to live between two quality bodies of water... *stares up in the sky dreamily* Quote
rangerjockey Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Yes ,I've fished Norfolk and Beaver as well. 1 Quote
AJ Hauser Posted August 10, 2020 Author Posted August 10, 2020 @rangerjockey they good? They all look like nice large bodies of water - clean water typically or dirty? I'll try to limit my questions now... Quote
Super User roadwarrior Posted August 10, 2020 Super User Posted August 10, 2020 I have been fishing with Hotdawg for more than 20 years; http://www.hotdawgguideservice.com/ 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted August 10, 2020 Posted August 10, 2020 Hot Dawg is famous...We get 15 plus foot of visibility at times here on Table Rock. On Beaver it's pretty much like that most of the time. If you don't have some clouds or wind it can be really tough. You will learn how to drag a shaky head in a hurry. 1 Quote

Having a really hard time not being a hater on that second fish ?. I wasn't there though, maybe it really was 9.5. Bull is a really nice lake. It does flood quite a bit it seems like but it still fishes good even when the water is up. I'd probably aim somewhere towards the dam, but that's only so I could have an easy drive to the White River below the lake also to fish for big brown trout too. Not only does Bull Shoals have good fishing for bass, but it can be really good for walleye also and occasionally produces some nice yellow perch oddly enough. It does kick out random stripers too, some of them will be huge. I've caught some really quality white bass from Bull while targeting bass with A rigs, swimbaits, and jerkbaits. 2 Quote
AJ Hauser Posted August 11, 2020 Author Posted August 11, 2020 Thank you guys so much. I think this is looking really, really good compared to the areas that I was looking at previously - I'm getting all excited as I type this. Also that second fish was well under 9.5 pounds. There. I said it. Still... great work kid, bigger than anything I've ever caught... but... your granddaddy is a liar! Thanks again guys!!! 1 Quote
rangerjockey Posted August 11, 2020 Posted August 11, 2020 One other thing you probably don't know...The culture in the Missouri Ozarks is going to be different than what you are used to. Not that their not some great folks and I'm blessed to have my friends but never...ever hire anybody to build a house or dock ect. that you haven't checked out. If you and your family are used to a fast pace you will have to adjust, nobody gets in much or a hurry. If your looking to find work I would stay closer to Table Rock. Towns like Springfield, Ozark or Nixa. For the most Part Bull shoals is really rural.. Quote
