I've been using old Shimano baitcasting reels(BMP 250) for a very long time and it's time for a newer higher gear ratio reel.  I got an ad for a Shimano Curado 70xg(8:1) from Basspro and went to buy it but they were out.  I can't afford anything more than $100 and would like a light weight reel.  I do have a couple of 6.3 and 7:1 reels and a dozen or so 5:1 that I use several times a week.  Any recommendations?   Thanks.

Love that picture.  Extremely nice bass.  Can I come fish with you?  :lol1:

How light?  The Curado 70 is listed as weighing 6.5 oz.  I think finding a reel that light at $100 is going to be tough.  At least for a name brand reel.  Can you squeeze out another $40?  Sportsman's Outfitters has the Lew's Tournament LFS for $140.  It is a $200 reel and listed at 6.4 oz.

EDIT:  Lew's Speed Spool LFS 7.1 oz.  Shimano SLX 6.9 oz. Fuego CT 7.6 oz.

Woah!  Okuma Helios TCS  6.3 oz. 8.1:1 $200 reel for $115  https://ads.midwayusa.com/product/1022182072?pid=683029&utm_medium=shopping&utm_source=google&utm_campaign=Fishing+-+Reels&utm_content=683029&gclid=EAIaIQobChMI743rmM6R6gIVCopaBR2WcQscEAQYASABEgLsjfD_BwE

I have one (not this ratio) and it is a nice reel.  I've always felt I got very good value for my money from Okuma.

Why would you do this when you can get the MP for a dollar less ?

Congratulations!  No experience with the Tatula 100, but feel quite sure you will like it.  I have an original Tatula Type R and Tatula SV.  Had an original Tatula.  All cast very well.

Received the reel Wednesday, loaded it with 15 lb mono and a buzzbait.  Used it Thursday and Friday and caught three bass up to 3 lbs with it.  Worked like it should, I'm pleased.
