SC53 Posted June 19, 2020 Posted June 19, 2020 I’ve been using a few diving crankbaits here in Central Florida with limited success, mainly on the St. John’s river and in flowing water situations on lakes. Mostly throwing SK KVD 1.5. I’m looking to get a little better selection of baits for the 3-4’ depth and some for the 6-8’ depth range. Colors choice maybe shad, bluegill, golden shiner and crawfish??? Can you guys recommend an assortment( 6-12 different baits/colors) that would be a good starting point. Thanks. Quote
Global Moderator Mike L Posted June 19, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 19, 2020 When I throw cranks I use RC’s in 3 basic colors...shad, blue gill and reddish craw colors. I don’t remember their specific color model names. Mike Quote
Todd2 Posted June 19, 2020 Posted June 19, 2020 I bought some Luck-E-Strike American Originals G5 Crankbaits. Runs 5-8 feet. These are American (Arkansas I think) made at a great price. They have many colors. The Poche's Perch seems to be the deal here. 1 Quote

The ones I have I’ve had for years They’re the most true running and durable cranks I’ve ever had. All I’ve ever done to them is replace the front trebles to red with the same size. Mike Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 19, 2020 Super User Posted June 19, 2020 The KVD 1.5 you mentioned and the Bandit 100 are my most used billed-plugs in central Florida. They both run about 4 ft deep, which is perfect in our local waters. When I need more depth than 5 feet (rarely), I’ll generally turn to a lipless plug. Roger 1 Quote

Born 2 fish Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 One thing I’ll recommend for central Florida is definitely get some green gizzard shad color. I really like the strike King XD series. 1 Quote
