Fenwick Techna AV

Anyone know anything about these rods?  I know in years past the Techna AV was a very nice rod, long time since I have seen one.

I believe OkobojiEagle and Mike L have experience with the AVs.  If I remember correctly, the lure ratings for the 7' MF and MHF put them on the high side of the normal ratings for those powers.  That's all I got for you.

 

Hopefully you get some good replies.  I guess I got mine (a 7' M & MH) when I was in the process of buying several rods because I don't recall fishing them.  Only getting out when I first got them for a little casting practice.

Once upon a time they were the top of the line Fenwick rod.  Then they got phased out by the AETOS line and who knows what the next Fenwick line is.   The store where I used to by Fenwick is more or less getting out of the Fenwick business, going to other rod lines & I haven't needed (WANTED??)  a new rod lately.

OP... what do you want to know about them?  I own 4 spinning & 2 casting.  Bought them about 15 years ago, I fish them still.  The last year(s) of their production they had stainless guides (not ceramic inserts) which I don't like.  Their power rating is pretty close to right, but many people will find the actions to be very stiff.  The current generation of Techna's (with the 3M blank material) seem to be much softer in action.  If you have specific questions, ask.

I’ve owned AV’s for years. 
In my opinion they are one of the finest rods made by anyone,  anywhere regardless of manufacturer. 

For me they are on par to any high end rod today in the $500 range. 

 

@OkobojiEagle is right, their power ratings are darn near spot on. 

And ask away. 
 

I use mh/f for all bottom contact presentations and have used another for light punching. 
They are worth whatever you can buy  one for.

Thanks for the replies, I was not specific enough in my original question.  I too like the old models but I am interested in the new model Techna with the 3M resin that pure fishing once had the exclusive rights to.  Just wondering if the newer models using this resin are worth a  look at.

Pure Fishing owns the rights to the 3M nano resin and the new Fenwick rods are made off shore. 

I have the original Techna AV, AVC 68MHF, 3/8-1 oz lures, 10-25 lb line in good condition if interested.
