It was a Daiwa Aird-X MH/F rod with 12LB Big Game, but that's changing tomorrow. I had a bad experience with a couple of Fury rods last year and sold them all out of frustration, but I have missed my 3 power. My awesome girlfriend, knowing this, ordered me one.

I'm going to strip the 12LB Big Game and put 10LB YZH on my Speed Spool with the Fury 703C. So I'll list that and my best baits so far this year which haven't changed.

Dobyns Fury 703C

Lew's Speed Spool LFS 6.8:1

Yo-Zuri Hybrid 10LB

Dirty Jigs Finesse Jig 5/16oz

Strike King Baby Rage Craw Trailer

Zoom Super Fluke (new confidence bait for me this season)

3/0 Gammy EWG

5" Senko T-Rig or Wacky (Yes, I've been throwing a Senko Wacky on casting gear this year with slightly heavier line than is used on spinning gear. I haven't noticed a difference in bites and it's more enjoyable.)

3/0 Gammy EWG - 1/0 Gammy Octopus Circle

Shimano Antares 70

Dobyns Champion 702c

30lb PP to 10lb Yo-zuri leader

I use this setup probably 95% of the time.

Dobyns 735 champion mh glass, Curado DC, 30 lb superslick braid, and these days some version of crank or glide bait I've made.

Right now, most often used setups are:

Brown bass: tube with a 3/8th or 1/2 oz head, Falcon Cara Head Turner, 8:1 Concept A, 14lb Sniper.

Green fish: 1/4th or 3/8th oz swim jig, Falcon Swim jig rod, 6:1 Curado 100, 30lb 832 or 15 lb Invisx.

So far, the 3 spots I'm fishing it's pretty much been a Tatula 6'10 MH/F and a Daiwa Coastal SV, with a 5" weightless Senko or Dinger. I keep a Carbonlite 2.0 with a Coastal SV rigged with a different color.

I honestly kind of get annoyed that I'm not throwing anything else... but the darn things just produce so many hits, and seem to produce more quality fish.  I've tried a few other lures over the last 6-8 weeks, but nothing puts as many fish in the boat as the Senkos/Dingers.

Nice that you are getting to spend some time with your new gear.  :thumbsup3:

Locally I don't have a favorite.  I like to rotate my gear.  A lure that is often tied on is a spinnerbait because 1)  I like them  2)  Almost always use one to practice  3)  May not want to tie on another lure  4)  They catch fish (based on experience in other parts of the country...fishing sucks here).

In Florida:  10" weightless ribbontail.  Usually Junebug color, but black is good. 3/0-5/0 EWG.  40# braid.  7' MHF Daiwa Jupiter. but 7' MHF Falcon Original works fine.  Reel is whichever one I take down that year.  Blue Patriarch XT and STX Gen 1 have been used the most.  BUT my 2 biggest Largemouth were caught on spinnerbaits.  :teeth:  And the absolute biggest crappie I have ever seen.

so far this year a wacky rig 5 inch senko on a 7 ft. BPS PATRIOT ROD medium action fast with 8lb test green sufix advance mon0 with a Lews tournament pro 7.5 /1 baitcaster or a 1/10 oz ned rig with a trd on a 6-6 Patriot with same action and rating and line and reel. that will change as the summer progresses.

As far as fishing gear goes, I have more than I need but not nearly as many as I want.  I like fishing reaction baits, like lipless cranks, square bills, spinnerbaits & so forth.  These days though, and for the past few years I seems like I have a soft plastic or jig rod in my hands MUCH more often, probably 2 to 1.  Twenty minutes of throwing a square bill or spinner bait and my wrists/elbow gets tired and I don't feel like throwing it any more - so I don't.

I'm on some decent anti-inflammatory meds so I'm not afraid, pain wise, to throw reaction baits, but if they ain't working, they aren't a bait that I'm going to stick with for a long time.   I'll go back to throwing some soft plastic at objects - mostly because I know that isn't going to bother my wrists as much.

I get it and thanks. I’m taking off my glasses to tie knots and saying do I really want to go that much further At the reservoir lol

I often use a 6-7'0'' Heavy action spinning rod with a size 4000 reel for bass fishing. I fish areas with heavy aquatic vegetation and lots of structure so this setup works well in the places I fish. The extra line capacity of a size 4000 reel is useful since many of the places I fish have snook, tarpon, and other powerful fish. I got some light tackle gear I use for fishing in very clear bodies of water or when I want to fish light tackle for fun.

Currently its probably 7'3" mh moderate poison adrena,  8:1 chronarch. Mgl. 30lb suffix 832 to 12lb  Seaguar fluoro leader. 3/8 oz. 6th sense bluegill or green pumpkin divine swim jig with a rage craw or swimmer trailer.

Wow, your swim jig choices are precisely identical to mine. Down to the size, colors and trailer choices. That’s eerie...

At any rate, onto the question at hand...it’s almost an exact split for me

844 conquest/metanium, braid to leader with the EXACT 6th sense jig setup described above or

68mxf legend x/aldebaran 50hg, braid to leader with zoom sungill flukes

Ugly stick med spinning rod with a Shakespeare reel of some kind. I mostly river fish and keep this combo in the truck at all times during the season. Don't keep the high dollar rods in the truck for obvious reasons.

St. Croix Legend X 6ft10 ML xtra fast

2015 Daiwa Exist JDM 1025

6lb suffix 832 braid

5lb maxima ultragreen leader

Used for split shotting.

St. Croix Legend Xtreme AGS 7ft4 Heavy Fast

Daiwa Steez A

14blb sunline structure flourocarbon

Used for 1/2-3/4 football jigs.

Those two setups are what I primarily use or at least start with.

I guess the rigs that I like best, that I use and enjoy the most are:

FIRST: Megabass F3-1/2 6'3" Xti  Evolution Super Griffon, Daiwa TD-Z fitted with a ZPI-PG-1 spool. 12lb P-Line Floroclear.  I'm probably using either a Bomber "A" or larger Texas rig. It just feels great.

Runner up:  6'9" ML Regular Daiwa Black Label with a Daiwa PX-68R (stock spool). I run 8lb Floroclear. I've probably got a small Texas Rig Lizard, A Yozuri-3D, or a Rapala 1/4 jointed shad.

THIRD:  Megabass 5'10" F5 MH Jig Special rod with a Daiwa TD-Z with a stock spool, 12 Lb Floroclear, and using either a Cotton Cordell silver jig or a 1oz lead vertical jig.

It's a tie between the Daiwa Steez SV TWS on a St. Croix Legend Elite 6'8'' M Fast and a Shimano Antares 70A on a G. Loomis 853C.  I use 12lb Invizx on the 70A and on the Steez is 10lb Tatsu.   Baits.... 5in senko Black with blue flake t-rigged with a 1/8oz bullet weight and the Megabass Dark Sleeper.

Honestly..

7ft medium two piece lightning rod and shimano sienna fg with 15 lb yellow braid 10 lb mono leader. Usually has a weightless super fluke tied on
