MUSLENUTZ Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Although many here have lots of gear. What do you find yourself using more on the water and what’s your favorite goto that just catches you fish. Rod, Reel, Line, hook and Lure. Be specific if you feel like typing. For me Dobyns 734 champ, Curado DC, 30lb Power Pro Braid w/10 lb Invisx with a 1/8oz weight Texas rig with 4/0 or 3/0 ewg hook with a 5 in plastic worm or rage tail. Quote
Super User Tywithay Posted June 18, 2020 Super User Posted June 18, 2020 Steez SV TW on a 7' M-MH Tatula Elite AGS with 12lb Assassin FC. Typically throwing weightless senkos. If I'm struggling to get a bite with anything else, I can always count on that setup to at least produce a hit. Going to be switching the Steez to another rod tomorrow though. Replacing it with a 2020 Metanium B. 1 Quote

Super User Teal Posted June 18, 2020 Super User Posted June 18, 2020 Ah man, hard to answer. It changes every few trips. Just depends in what a working for me at the time. It could be any one of 7 or 8 rods that steal the show on a given day. If I had to bite on this thread for the fun of it, I'll name a rod and reel set up that I have 2 of because of its versatility. Powell Endurance 723c, Lews tournament pro 7:1 reel, 1 set up has 50 lb Braid & 12 lb Sniper, the other has 16 lb Sniper. Spinnerbaits, chatter baits, 1/4 oz t rigs, lipless cranks, softswimbaits, shakey heads, even squarebilla and some topwaters. Quote

AmmoGuy Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 So far, the 3 spots I'm fishing it's pretty much been a Tatula 6'10 MH/F and a Daiwa Coastal SV, with a 5" weightless Senko or Dinger. I keep a Carbonlite 2.0 with a Coastal SV rigged with a different color. I honestly kind of get annoyed that I'm not throwing anything else... but the darn things just produce so many hits, and seem to produce more quality fish. I've tried a few other lures over the last 6-8 weeks, but nothing puts as many fish in the boat as the Senkos/Dingers. 1 1 Quote

My 6,10 tatula has been getting A lot of work too...mainly moving and top water baits for me tho. Pretty much been throwing kvd wake baits and plopper 110s on it for past couple weeks. A very versatile rod. It's a shame cuz it's an excellent bottom contact rod, but I've those covered already ? glad you like your new rod Quote
Finessegenics Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 - Pflueger Supreme XT 30 - Mojo Bass 6’10 ML/XF - 10lb braid to 8lb fluoro (been trying yo-zuri hybrid as leader too) 1/16 or 1/8 oz mushroom jig head, with a wide assortment of 3” plastics. I fish with all my setups but this has been in my hands by far the most. I was always more comfortable with a spinning reel in my hands. Even when I go up to heavier casting gear, it’s rarely ever a moving bait. Usually just a big worm weightless or with a light bullet weight. 1 Quote

Sometimes I feel like it MIGHT be a little more work to take up line on hooksets than a 7' or a 7'3", but it's minimal. And yes... I realize there is a Tat 7'3" MH/F, but I don't need that evil put on me right now, ? Quote

Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 18, 2020 Super User Posted June 18, 2020 As far as fishing gear goes, I have more than I need but not nearly as many as I want. I like fishing reaction baits, like lipless cranks, square bills, spinnerbaits & so forth. These days though, and for the past few years I seems like I have a soft plastic or jig rod in my hands MUCH more often, probably 2 to 1. Twenty minutes of throwing a square bill or spinner bait and my wrists/elbow gets tired and I don't feel like throwing it any more - so I don't. I'm on some decent anti-inflammatory meds so I'm not afraid, pain wise, to throw reaction baits, but if they ain't working, they aren't a bait that I'm going to stick with for a long time. I'll go back to throwing some soft plastic at objects - mostly because I know that isn't going to bother my wrists as much. 1 Quote

The Maestro Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 I'm using a jig or Texas rig most of the time but those are spread over 4 different rods. I guess for a single rod/reel/bait I would be using my Senko setup the most. It's a Gen 1 Cumara 6'8" MH Fast + 2020 Metanium HG with 30lb yellow Power Pro. Usually throwing a 5" green pumpkin BPS Stik-O. Quote
