Jim Sutter Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I'm thinking about purchasing some of the above mentioned Crank Baits made by Spro. How good are they? Do you prefer another brand? If so which ones and in what color and weight. Quote
Tizi Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 Excellent crankbait. I have caught many fish on them. I like the phantom brown and green. Similar action to the 6th Sense Curve 55. 2 Quote
BassNJake Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 These are very good, underrated cranks. I'm a grinder when using a crank and these have held up the the abuse of constantly banging on the rocks I've got a darker one (Redbug) and a lighter one (Ayu Shad) and they both work well A must have for me actually. Super User A-Jay Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 That 55 has accounted for several plus size brown bass for me the past several seasons. It's been a front runner on my annual "Most Productive Baits" post three years running. Only way I see that changing is if I were to stop throwing it. And that ain't happening. A-Jay 3 Quote
Jim Sutter Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Tizi, BassNJake and A-Jay, Thank you for your great reviews. I will purchase a few of these lures in a couple of weeks. Thanks again for this information. Take care and have a wonderful and safe evening. 3 Quote
Fishingmickey Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I second that emotion. RK55's are the bomb. FM Quote
Jim Sutter Posted June 17, 2020 Author Posted June 17, 2020 Fishingmickey, Thank you for your input on throwing the Spro Pro Series Mike McClelland RKCrawler 55. You can be assured, I will own a few of these lures by Friday of this week. At the present time, I do not own any. That will change. You take care and have a wonderful and safe evening. Quote
RHuff Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 Red Crawfish is deadly for smallmouth around rocks Quote
Jim Sutter Posted June 18, 2020 Author Posted June 18, 2020 RHuff, Thank you, for the tip. I will be sure to order that color. Thanks again. Please take care and have a wonderful and safe evening. Quote
Vilas15 Posted June 18, 2020 Posted June 18, 2020 I got 2 this winter to try this spring. Only threw one a bit for a day or two but caught a pike and a walleye. I can conclude it catches fish. Quote
Jim Sutter Posted June 18, 2020 Author Posted June 18, 2020 Vilas15 Thank you, for responding to my question.Nice to know these lures will work on other fish besides bass. Please take care and have a wonderful and safe day. 1 Quote

Because of the replies to this thread, I decided I would listen to the Bait Monkey and buy one RkCrawler 55 to try, even though I have way to many crankbaits that are similar. After seeing this purchase, I realize the Bait Monkey wasn't wasting his time talking to me. He wasn't even in the same room. My wife would be very happy if you could keep him over at your place for awhile longer. 2 Quote

Jim Sutter Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Fishingmickey, Yes, I realize that's a lot of crankbaits but I'm 74 retired and I love to fish. Basically, I only fish three places. All three are within seven miles of the house. Two Sportsmen Club ponds and the other pond belongs to a high School classmate of mind. 3 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 20, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 20, 2020 I've owned 3 Rock Crawlers, which is 1 more than the number of bass I've caught with them ? 1 Quote
Super User A-Jay Posted June 20, 2020 Super User Posted June 20, 2020 OK so I like the bait - It gets bites for me, spring , summer & fall. (But it's not magic) Here's a spring bass on one, water temps were in the high 40's. and to the OP - @Jim Sutter Good Luck with your selection. A-Jay Quote
rangerjockey Posted June 20, 2020 Posted June 20, 2020 They were designed to be a Wiggle Wart alternative. They will out dive a wart but I think also tend to hang up a bit more. I've caught a bunch on them , I only throw the craw patterens but I still prefer the wart unless I need another 3ft or so That deal is over for this year around here but you have a nice selection for sure Quote
Jim Sutter Posted June 20, 2020 Author Posted June 20, 2020 Good Morning everyone, Bluebasser86, You have to fish with a lure your most comfortable with. A-Jay, Thanks, for sharing a video of some of your catches. You caught some very nice fish. Rangerjockey, I hope someday, I can say, I caught a bunch on them. I hope you three fishermen have a great and safe weekend. 2 Quote

Curious when the Blue Craw (ie Stone Cold) became so popular around TR and what time of year is it best ? Quote

A friend who guides on Table Rock had the stone cold at least a year before they made them available. Then they sold out really fast to guys just started taking any RK Crawler to some of our local customer painters. In typical wiggle wart fashion it's a late fall early sring deal. Quote
Super User Columbia Craw Posted September 5, 2022 Super User Posted September 5, 2022 It’s a moot point now that you placed your order. An on line outlet had them at 25 percent off. If there is a bait that rivals the Norman DLN this is it. They run to maybe 11 feet and are high quality. Good hardware out of the box. Fish with confidence! 1 Quote
