croach1776 Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I recently acquired a Shimano Calcutta 200 via ebay. On the underside of the reel foot it has 92 with RH. Am I to assume it was made in 1992 and its right hand reel. The only problem I found upon dis-assembly was the idle gear was missing a tooth. Only slight corrosion on the inside of roller bearing and the anti-reverse bearing. Are there any upgrades to this reel that would improve its usability. Thanks Quote
Super User FishTank Posted June 15, 2020 Super User Posted June 15, 2020 I am guessing this is the silver 200A. I would clean it from top to bottom, replace the idle gear, soak the bearings, re-oil/lube, check the bearings to see if they are bad, and replace (probably) the spool bearings and the drag washers. Delaware Valley Tackle Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 If the AR is rusted I’d replace it along with rusty bearings. Add Carbontex drag and you should be good. 1 Quote
