bassheel Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 (edited) I fish ponds with a muck bottoms. I want to try to fish larger profile worms like bull worm, mag trick, yum mighty, and such on a shakey head/ swing head. Its hard to find a 5/0,4/0 with a lighter weight. I'm looking for 1/8 or 3/16 in that size. Does anyone know where I can find one? Maybe I just overlooked it. Edited June 15, 2020 by bassheel Quote
Super User Fishes in trees Posted June 15, 2020 Super User Posted June 15, 2020 Arkie makes round heads in the sizes you're looking for, but the hook that comes with it is a 2/0 or 3/0, one of those. MY advice, if you want to go that small - get some egg sinkers ( or some other shape you like ), some wire ( the heaviest you can bend), your Dremel & some cutting wheels, appropriate size hooks and some solder ( or maybe epoxy, or bondo, something like that) to fill in niches, and go work work and make your own. Don't forget goggles or other eye protection when messing around with Dremel & cutting wheels. Gene Larew Hard head go down to 5/16 oz. Something to consider - as a general rule Biffle Bug type heads & baits work best on harder sand/ rocky bottoms. Throwing a swing head jig, of any weight, on a mucky bottom might just be asking for it. 1 Quote

JediAmoeba Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 My advice would be to message Sieberts and see if he could make some for you. 2 Quote
riskkid 2 Posted June 15, 2020 Posted June 15, 2020 I've used a Yum Pumpkin Head for bigger worms. To get a 4/0 or 5/0 hook you have to go to 1/4 oz. Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 16, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 16, 2020 I make my own for fishing in heavy rock because they don't drop down in the cracks as bad. Those big worms don't need much weight and kind of glide along on the fall. Most of my fishing is shallower than 15' so I normally put a 5/0 or 6/0 EGW on an 1/8oz head. Quote
