Super User Tywithay Posted June 13, 2020 Super User Posted June 13, 2020 Definitely prefer the looks of the CT, but interested in how these perform. https://www.daiwa.com/us/contents/reels/fuego100/index.html 1 Quote
Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 13, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 13, 2020 I really like the couple Fuegos I have. Hopefully these ones are just as good or better. 1 Quote
NavyVet1204 Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 I like the look too of the hyper speed myself. Quote
MountainMan83 Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 These are the ones that came out in 2016 or so and follow the original tatula frame before they released the CT versions. 1 Quote
Super User MassYak85 Posted June 13, 2020 Super User Posted June 13, 2020 The Fuego CT's have become my workhorse reels. They get the job done, are fairly easy to work on, and don't break the bank. Nice to see some upgrades to it. I just hope they keep the price of the 100 in that same range as the CT. If they want $179 for adding some cheap handle and levelwind bearings and some accent colors I'll just buy some of the current CT's on Ebay for cheap when the new ones drop. I am glad they kept the T-wing off the new 100 though. That's honestly the main reason I buy them since I am mainly a braid to leader guy. Quote

Where are you finding Tatula 100s without the T-Wing? Everyplace I look, the only 100s they got have the T-Wing. Far as I know, everything from the Tatula CT up has the T-Wing...Fuego CT is the 'top' model with a standard aperture. And really the only difference between the Fuego CT and Tatula CT is the T-Wing...Tatula advertises two more bearings - but they're in the handle knobs, so nothing different internally far as bearings go. Yeah, he's confused and didnt read the last two posts.. The OP posted about a new Fuego, when it's actually a reel that came out 5 or 6 years ago based off the original, bigger Tatula frame. Quote

So out of my budget then. I'd get a Tat-100 if it came with a standard aperture...that's 'barely' within my budget. Quote

Yes, I know I said I was feuding with Daiwa, but this might change things. 9 minutes ago, BaitFinesse said: I'm sure it could be converted easily enough. That's one of the things I asked Daiwa main office in California; they said, "Nope." I hope whoever I talked to knew what they were talking about. jj Quote
Super User iabass8 Posted June 14, 2020 Super User Posted June 14, 2020 the least they could have done was color the stupid nut cap Quote

If I wait long enough I can probably get more than what I payed for it. As long as you keep it in good shape and get the reels for the right price many of these old beloved Daiwa platforms hold their vaule Megabass or not. Value is HEAVILY based on cosmetic condition though. So no setting it down upsidedown or hooking baits onto the reel ect. Fish with it but take care of it. I understand. Unfortunately, I use any heavily-favored reel quite a bit, and most of them look it. They're a tool to me, not an investment. Now that I've said that, let me ask you a question. The real reason I tried Daiwa was Magforce-Z. That's it. I tried it and I liked it. However, I had serious problems with the pinion gear and possibly the drive gear. This is casting and retrieving lures up to one ounce. I've heard (anecdotally) that some Daiwa reels with Magforce-Z were built like tanks. By that I mean that they would cast an ounce all day long, do so smoothly, and continue doing it for years. And they did NOT have the t-wing system. If that's true, which ones would we be talking about? jj Quote

My bad. 6 hours ago, JediAmoeba said: I am a braid to leader guy and run almost all T-Wings... I have a couple reels with T-wings I still run braid to leader but lately I just started buying Fuegos if I know I'm running braid to leader cause it lets me run the knot into the reel if needed. I had too many issues with the knot hanging up on the T-wng when being reeled back into the reel. Casting wasn't much of an issue but the narrow channel when retrieving line I was having the knot catch if I was running anything heavier than 12lb leader. Quote

Daiwa TD Zillion, Daiwa TD Advantage/Alphas 150 (not all are Magforce Z so do your homework). Dawia Ryoga (all sizes). Daiwa Luna (all sizes). There is also the Zillion TW reels. They are Tatula based but improved. Lots of guys like them but they haven't been around as long as the above reels to truly be proven IMO. These would be Zillion TWS and Catalina TW. There is also an aluminum frame and side plate with marine grade bronze gears (only in 8:1, rest are aluminum) version of the Steez platform. The 19 Morethan PE. Thank you .... very much. ? jj Quote
