They hunt the hunter. Last summer the wife and myself went out around 8pm and were having a nice time. That is until sunset. The mosquitoes were insane. Of course I forgot the bug spray . Actually I didn't even consider bringing any, mosquitoes have been zero issue during the day. We put on our rain gear to shield ourselves. It wasn't too hot, and worked out pretty well since I don't think just spray would have kept them away. After awhile they lightened up some after the initial swarm. We had a good time, it's so much more quite at night . 1 Quote

Todd2 Posted June 16, 2020 Posted June 16, 2020 I rolled back to the ramp a little after midnight last night and there were three teenagers swimming a good distance from the dock..crazy. Luckily it's no wake and from the parking lot light in the background I was able to see some movement..be careful out there at night. 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 (edited) I'm excited this year because I have a good partner who can go night fishing with me. I fished at night years ago, both from a boat and the bank. One of the biggest fish I ever hooked hit a black Lunker Lure buzzbait retrieved as slowly as possible near a weedline. She buried in the weeds, and threw the hook. Maybe she's still out there?I plan on finding out next month for sure. It's a whole different world out there at night. I'm pumped about it now! Guitarfish Posted June 17, 2020 Posted June 17, 2020 I bought one of those cheap head nets for a few bucks, sprayed it with 'Off', and wore a long sleeve tee. Sprayed a couple spots on the tee too. No bugs. 1 Quote

Super User Catt Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 @Mobasser Having partner while night fishing is a huge plus. We've all ran into problems during the daytime but problems at night can get interesting! 1 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 I might also mention, I just received my order for two bags of the Mr. Twister Mag 12" Buzz Worm. Catt told me about them.in another thread. These should be a great night bait to throw. Big Worm+ Dark Summer Night, could possibly = Lunker bass! 1 minute ago, Catt said: @Mobasser Having partner while night fishing is a huge plus. Super User Mobasser Posted June 17, 2020 Super User Posted June 17, 2020 Id also like to say a thanks to BR member scaleface, who was kind enoupgh to send me a buzzbait, and a spinnerbait, with a single large Colorado blade, like the ones I used years ago. The big single blade really puts out some serious thump at night. Thanks again scaleface, I'm ready for em. 1 Quote

5-20 Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 I've always wished I like night fishing more. As it is, I fish for a while until 12 or 1am and then I get tired or feel spooked by how quiet it is. Haha. Never had an incredible bag fishing at night either. Some good fish between 5 and about 7 lbs but that's it. Nothing like the success I've had fishing during the daytime. My club used to have all night tournaments. I hated them. I'd have a hard time staying awake around 3-4 am and then it would totally throw off my sleep schedule for like 2 days. But for you guys that enjoy or love night fishing, more power to you! Enjoy it!!! Definitely a good way to have the lake or some good spots all to yourself. Quote

I don't get too spooked but the other night two raccoons started fighting right behind me on the bank..that woke me up. Quote
Yakalong Posted June 24, 2020 Posted June 24, 2020 I love to fish at night, but only on certain lakes that I know. Also, always bring the bug spray! Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 24, 2020 Super User Posted June 24, 2020 I used to do a fair amount of night fishing, but not so much lately. Fishing at night gives off a nice feeling, almost as exciting as sitting on a deer stand before daybreak. I'm not as agile as I used to be, so that bump you hear in the night, is probably me tripping on my tackle box. Roger Quote
