This is exciting. Looks like its following the path of Conquest...

Do we know if they will continue to offer NRX or + line is replacing it?

So what's the difference between the nrx mbr and the conquest? The nrx has a few recoils? I wonder which is lighter

This is a good question. For me I didn’t see enough of a difference to replace my conquest 844. Other than the reel seat and the guides it seems like most of the tech did trickle down from the conquest.

Yeah it is just missing the shimano x wrap it seems to me. That may be worth the extra $80 for some people...

I am dying to get one of those ned rig specific rods.

not that i will ever be able to afford one of these, but its disappointing to me that they once again have gone with a custom reel seat that some people will not like and will probably break (like so many of the NRX and GLX ones have).

Whats wrong with a standard Fuji reel seat everyone seems to like to like and won't break?

How do you break a reel seat?  I mean, I have over 50 rods that I'm not very nice to (ask @Maico1 LOL) and the only one I ever broke was a Fuji seat on a Saint Croix Avid that was over 10 years old.  I stripped the threaded locking hood wrestling with a huge northern pike, and SC fixed it by the way.

I've seen quite a few posts on the facebook forums with the Loomis custom seats crack. this of course is long after the first run of NRX reel seats that all used to break (but they rectified that a long time ago). Thats why they had the NXR 'green' for awhile to distinguish the newer rods from the first run that had so many reel seat issues.

Im just saying if it isn't broke don't fix it. nothing wrong with a standard fuji reel seat

Can someone please tell me why in the g loomis videos on YouTube (us and Europe) they keep saying the mbr have faster actions than the jwr???! This is goofy and the opposite of what has been the case for years. Are they getting their acronyms mixed up or what’s the deal? (I’m not referring to the tactical bassin video)

Ok. So my question is, do I go for the 853c or 893c? I am curious if this update will improve the 853 at all? It seemed like the 893c was the apex of sensitivity in the rod lineup.  Any thoughts?

I would ask the guys at ALF

What are you throwing with it?

I think my 853c seems way underpowered and it's funny what the guys at TB said above in the vid about thinking it's going to break at any moment, haha. I completely agree. But, the sensitivity is there. I've actually heard and read the 873CRR is a step above the 853c and 893c.

1/4 ounce jig with bigger trailer. After reading previous reviews of the 853c, that seemed to be the ideal weight. I am curious though if anything changes with this new model where it is less flimsy

Yes, watch the vid above and they talk about how the new model feels so much stronger.

What are your thoughts on the 873CRR as a “do it all rod”? I know the MBR tapers are great for versatility, but what about the 873CRR? I have had a 873 and I know it a great bottom contact rod. I’m actually considering getting 2 and using the second one and using it as my all purpose rod for T-rigs, swim jigs, wobble heads, spinnerbaits, underspins, dark sleepers, etc. Am I crazy?

I have the now old 873CCR and it is very versatile.   I have used it T-rigged soft plastic, swimbaits (keitechs), spinner baits, and dark sleepers.  It has become my go to rod of choice this year.

Another suggestion,  the Megabass Destroyer P5 Super Destroyer.   Also a very versatile rod.  It can handle anything from chatter baits, swimbaits and soft plastic from 1/4 Oz to 1 1/4 Oz.  I have even thrown some crank baits with it and it has done fine.

The super destroyer is amazing but I'd guess it has much more power than the 873

You are correct but you wouldn't think so when you hold both in hand.  It's not until you put a fish on it with a big bait that you notice how much power the Super Destroyer has.   The 873 is no slouch though.

I agree. The sd feels like a medium heavy and casts light baits well. When you want to put the juice to them the super destroyer has got the power.

Interesting observation of the Super Destroyer.

I have mine spooled up with #14 Sniper FC and have been using her as a tight area -chatterbait combo.

A few weeks back I hooked into a 4-5# bass at the California Delta in open water. The fish pulled me into a submerged tree and though I tried very hard, I was not able to pull the fish away from the cover and eventually lost the fish.

So, comparing it with other rods that I own, I would put the rod a bit above the NRX 893c but quite a bit below a NRX 804c.

Given my experience with the rod, I switched to be more of a lighter texas rig combo, rather than be a hard fighting power combo.

@Badersnatch: How do you compare the SD with the TS that you own? I had the TS on order but swapped it for the SD, because I just did not want to wait any longer.

Cheers guys!
