I am confused and need some help from other land owners with ponds . My pond is small 10 ft in few areas but 5 or 6 in the rest . The other day I came home to all my bass and blue gill dead floating but cat fish still alive I've been told it flipped I've lived here 11 yrs and it always storms it's allways hot hell we was in drought just couple yrs ago .I've been reading on the forum about pond flipping but no one ever said that there fish was dead so has any one else in north Missouri have had this happen so early on or can I get done advice ?

Well....it's not a simple answer.  There's a lot of different reasons that can cause a fish kill in your pond.  Here's a good start to help figure out the problem:

I'd be shocked if a pond 10' deep can flip.  That happens on deeper lakes where the water temp is so different from upper level to lower level, that the density makes the water "flip", or trade positions.

 

I don't know what killed your fish, sadly, but I doubt it's due to a turnover.

 

I would, however, check with state departments and have the water tested before adding new fish.
