Super User RoLo Posted January 19, 2021 Super User Posted January 19, 2021 I kind of lost my appetite for beer, but not my appetite for alcohol. After all is said & done, my first love is a medium-rare 'Rib-eye Steak'. I'm pretty sure that's why my friends call me "Beefeater" Roger Quote

It was good with pizza but would probably go even better with a steak and a baked potato. It made me think of Angels Envy just for the fact that the whiskey is aged in port wine barrels. I don't like Angels Envy at all though. I wouldn't ever buy it again even at 1/2 the price. Quote

A-Jay We brought back some of that too....... hahah! That’s actually what caused us to travel to Buffalo trace the first time 2 years ago, my fiancé had a glass of bourbon cream at a local restaurant. She loved it and said she must buy some, at this point it wasn’t available at any of our liquor stores. Next thing you know we are weekending in KY. When you do a tasting at Buffalo trace, they mix the bourbon cream half and half with freddys root beer for an adult root beer float 3 Quote
moguy1973 Posted March 19, 2021 Posted March 19, 2021 I've gotten into bourbon sipping this past year for the obvious reasons. Always liked to dabble in it but never really understood it until my friend introduced me to Blanton's and Weller last summer. Those are a little rich for my blood, even if they are dang tasty. So I've been going through some of the more affordable good bourbons and here's my top 6: 1. Wild Turkey 101 2. Elijah Craig Small Batch 3. Four Roses Small Batch 4. Maker's Mark 5. Buffalo Trace 6. Russell's Reserve 10yr Wasn't a fan of Larceny, but I've never had any other Heaven Hill products and I've heard others are good too. Up next on my list to try is Old Forester 1910 or 1920 and some Knob Creek 9yr. 2 Quote

Next week he’ll be 82 y/o so those one on one days are becoming more and more valuable to me. We stopped to get some wine for Easter and I picked up a bottle of Tin Cup. Anybody ever try it? I’m a scotch guy @moguy1973, how far are you from Frankfort, KY? Weller is $30 and Blantons is $60 at Buffalo trace, but you have to be there in person to buy it and only one bottle per person per day 1 Quote

A-Jay Appreciate your opinion. Whiskey, I’m finding, is way more of an acquired taste. Dad was always a scotch drinker, a good friend of mine who was an umpire in our little league was more rye. I’ve gravitated to bourbon but I’m still pretty novice when it comes to whiskey. Where do you stand? BYW I just used the no bueno earlier. ?.., love it! Quote
