It says Coors Whiskey Co. Don't know if it's part of Coors Beer or not.

After being a novice bourbon hunter for the past 2-3 years I was shocked to come across Stagg at our little mountain liquor shop at close to retail. I've heard it really opens up after you open the bottle, so I had a small pour tonight after opening it. Since it's a bit of a unicorn around here I'll be holding off on the next pour until a special occasion.

It is, I have a buddy who's a Coors Beer rep, he's been talking about Coors getting into the distilled spirits market. My guess is they'll probably acquire some more independent distillers in the future too.

Nice bottle for near retail. I've stopped searching for Stagg (Jr's) since batch 18, I don't feel like the distillate/age in the bottle is worth the effort anymore, but for retail, I'll always get it if I come across it. I'm sipping 23C right now, and it's just a hot mess IMO.

I've read some enthusiasts love it and some think it's an underwhelming batch. I'll let mine open up a bit before making a decision, but since I don't have a point of reference (vs other batches) and enjoy Buffalo Trace I assume I'll end up liking it quite a bit.

Another new one for me. The story on the back of the bottle:

Back in 1948, at the corner of Clark and Sheffield in Chicago, Binny's Beverage Depot was born...blah blah blah

For those of you not from Chicago, Binny's Beverage Depot is the "Big box" liquor store of all liquor stores. This is their house bourbon, distilled, aged, and bottled by Founders Co. On sale for $29, regularly $39. The description on their site:

A rich, chewy and balanced bourbon that shows maturity and depth without letting oak overpower the softer, ever-present fruit. Vanilla, almond blossom, and caramel notes intermingle with cherry, plum, golden apple and ripe Bartlett pear. A complex melange of spices informs the long fruit and mineral accented finish, pumping out white pepper, cinnamon, clove and a subtle impression of mint. Everything you could want in a great Bottled in Bond Bourbon!

It's smooth both up front and on the back end, especially for being 100 proof. All I taste is the spice and a little cherry. Another one and done for me. It's not bad, just not my "cup of tea"

The only story I have committed to memory is after a bad experience with Yukon Jack.  “Yukon Jack is a taste born of hoary nights when men struggled to keep their campfires lit and their cabins warm, such are the nights of Yukon Jack” that is from memory and I might be a little off but the memory of waking up in a hotel bathtub is still strong.😂

I was in California last week for work and tried one of these.  Went to Total Wine today and bought some.  I need more fruity beer in my life.  This stuff is better than Summer Shandy.

Yep an old work buddy turned me onto those years ago... If people knew about it leinenkugels sales of summer shandy would drop %95.
