BOOM! Curved ball everyone! We stopped by my parent house for a beer and he showed me this! Not my cup of tea but apparently my last name has a history of Irish whiskey!

my heritage will kill me but, I still prefer my Miller Lite. Still cool though he found this! ☘️

Just feels right when it's time to enjoy a couple episodes of Peaky Blinders.

JACKPOT. Went into the liquor store and saw they had a sale going on. Lot of good options but this is what I settled on to try. Normally $42-$50 but got it for $31

Now, when I purchased it, the lady at the counter asked me if I purchased this one intentionally. She said that the bottles like this one that have an excess amount of red seal are actually worth some money. Anyone know something about this?

A gin and tonic with the very first, crisp, clean pour of tonic.

Ran up to the biggest liquor store in the area again today and picked up 2 bottles. Found my Powers Gold label Irish whiskey and got a bottle of Tin Cup rye. Wanted Old Forested 100 rye but they were out.

I didn't know what to expect from the Tin cup but I was pleasantly surprised. The nose and pallet matched well: some pepper and rye spice along with very present dill notes, finish off with a little sweetness. Not the most refined whiskey I've had but easy sipping and enjoyable. No complaints at $27 for a 750ml.

The Powers was everything I hoped for and then some. The nose is purely green apple for me...green apple jolly rancher to be exact. The palate is buttery shortbread ( typical in Irish ), some honey and again the strong candy green apple note but just enough unripe fruit, namely pear plus orange zest to make it just tart enough to knock the sweetness down. Best part is I don't get any metallic note like I get on lower price Irish, which is especially present in Jameson for me.

Overall I'm very happy with my purchases. I'm thinking the Powers is my new budget(ish) Irish over Bushmills and Jameson. Yeah its a bit pricier but it is light years ahead in quality as far as my tastes go.

I decided to keep mine and try it, but I will keep the bottle after it's finished. I just kinda figured that after shipping and hassle, not making much $ off this bottle, especially when you compare it to more iconic "slam dunks."

So anyways, my thoughts. The label on the back of cask strength advertises it as Maker's Mark, just a "little over the top." That's accurate, and no surprise seeing as this is Maker's Mark before any kind of diluting. But the stuff is seriously strong. Really really strong. It's good. It's refined, more so than regular Maker's Mark, it's got a pleasing aroma, it is decently smooth and leaves a great aftertaste. But not for the feint of heart. Stuff burns and keeps burning.

For what it is, it's great.

I'll see your JACKPOT and raise you WINNING THE LOTTERY

The tequila I use for mixers is normally $43 a handle. On clearance for $16. I bought the 4 that were on the shelf.

I had some zombie dust beer in Indiana once when I was there for work. Thought it was pretty good too. Don’t remember exactly which one it was though.

@gimruis I believe 3 Floyd’s are the only ones who brew “zombie dust” they started brewing their beers in Hammond Indiana. They have 2 zombie beers as far as I can tell, zombie dust is a pale ale and zombie ice is a double pale ale.

I was in West Lafayette at Purdue for some work training. Someone recommended the zombie dust after work one day so I gave it a try.

@gimruis I’m not a big fan of wheat beers so unfortunately I’m not crazy about the (3) gum ball head beers in this mixed package but the other 9 are pale ales and so far I’m pretty happy.

Been a long week...time to relax and enjoy a few whiskies. Probably have a nice pour of Powers gold label in a glencairn. Then ill ramp it up with a couple fingers of WT rare breed in a rocks glass with 1 ice cube.

Ended up having Tin cup rye last night...its pretty decent for the money. Tonight I started with a little Powers Gold...I'm really enjoying it. Then I had a pour of Rare Breed with some ice...I can get it locally under $50 after tax and im convinced its the best bourbon for the price.

Bottles with sharpie on them can only go one of two ways: make your day or ruin your life. Had a buddy bring some homemade concoction to a party in an empty Beam white label bottle...I said well your not starting off real hot.

knob creek single barrel reserve, 120 proof.... but i also like eagle rare, 10 year old.  the knob creek, more hard core, for me. eagle rare, kind of nice sippin' stuff.... i forgot what i paid for it, but i think it's a moderately price bourbon.... for beer, i like pilsners......scrimshaw, which i think is from california.

happy sippin' or guzzlin'

I didn't pick up any hints of "coffey" grain but this one is tasty and sure goes down easy.

Went to a pizzeria+brewery with some friends and tried a stout called Old Rasputin. Could be a local deal. It is the best stout I’ve ever had

Tonight I'm going with the "B" batch of Larceny from this year.  B523 is full of cinnamon and caramel.  Highly recommend!
