Super User TOXIC Posted August 16, 2023 Super User Posted August 16, 2023 My haul back from Wisconsin. 1 case of Spotted Cow sent home with my daughter because she likes to entertain and the Spotted Cow is always a hit. The Door County Cherry Vodka was a recent find. I’m not a big vodka drinker but this is the most realistic cherry flavor I have ever had. Not cheap but well worth the price. 4 Quote

Super User LrgmouthShad Posted August 16, 2023 Super User Posted August 16, 2023 If I could find that at H-E-B, I would get that. Side note, I do appreciate those about Texas, H-E-Bs 1 Quote

As a matter of fact they are making it in cans and it would have been easier to distribute to all of my buddies who want some but to me it just tastes different in a can. So everything I brought back is in bottles. Inside the boxed case of bottles, they are in six pack cardboard carriers. We did buy cans for taking out on the pontoon boat while we were there. 1 Quote

BigAngus752 Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 Oh, how we love Bardstown, KY! Wife and I are both bourbon-lovers and had a great time visiting distilleries, searching small town liquor stores for good deals, and trying new bourbon every night at Volstead's Bourbon Lounge. We ended up with three allocated bourbons by getting to the distilleries early. We went to Heaven Hill distillery and we each got to bottle our own bourbon after tasting several barrels. My wife chose and Elijah Craig barrel proof and I chose a Larceny barrel proof. Then we drove 30 miles to a small town to have lunch and stopped at a small liquor store where I found ONE dusty bottle of Larceny C922 which is considered by most to be the best ever release from Larceny. We previously had one bottle and drank it years ago. Amazing to find one sitting in the back of a glass case in a small town liquor store. 2 Quote
Junger Posted August 17, 2023 Posted August 17, 2023 LBP C922 is definitely one of my favorite batches, nice score! 1 Quote
Eric 26 Posted August 18, 2023 Posted August 18, 2023 Not my favorite Oktoberfest which was Old Style Oktoberfest which they stopped brewing but not bad either. 1 Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 19, 2023 Author Super User Posted August 19, 2023 Bossman bought me a slushi machine for the store. Said I could get a hot dog roller if I wanted and gave me a link to a website called vevor. It's basically Harbor Freight on steroids because they sell all sorts of crap. I tell him I want a 5gal still. "Think of how much my sales will increase if I get all my customers drunk" was my angle. Needless to say, I didn't get a still. After looking up the still, everyone of my feeds has either still or moonshine recipes. Big Brother is watching 1 Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 19, 2023 Global Moderator Posted August 19, 2023 I have a guy I work with who is a retired LEO of 25 years and he going to start making his own shine. He went to the extent of asking a FED he knows and he said “yes” it’s absolutely illegal but they aren’t out looking for the small time guys and aren’t looking for stills especially in our area, BUT if things go south (blow up) you’re going to get busted. For the small time guys it’s a mistermeaner. So take it for what it’s worth.? Quote
Super User slonezp Posted August 19, 2023 Author Super User Posted August 19, 2023 It's legal for personal use as far as I can tell. Quote
Global Moderator 12poundbass Posted August 19, 2023 Global Moderator Posted August 19, 2023 Nope! Not like wine or beer. Liquor fumes can and will explode, wine and beer…not so much. Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted August 21, 2023 Super User Posted August 21, 2023 Bittersweet time of year to take my daughter back to school. For nostalgia I had to have something from a local brewery. While catching up on Tacticalbassin ? Found some 1910 at a local store and couldn't pass it up. Might be my affinity for smoked meats, but regardless I do like double oaked/barreled bourbons. 1 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted August 21, 2023 Super User Posted August 21, 2023 Never had the 1910 but I'm a big fan of the Woodford double oaked. How does it compare in your opinion? Think the price is close Quote

If I see it at retail around home I'll be picking up another. Quote
813basstard Posted August 21, 2023 Posted August 21, 2023 I’d need 4 shots to get me a thru tactical bassin…they catch’em. They’re good. They’re knowledgeable..they’re annoying..meanwhile, working on my 5th Stella pretending 6:05 isn’t coming in the morning 1 Quote

Think I'm gonna pick up a bottle of Powers gold label. 39 minutes ago, 813basstard said: I’d need 4 shots to get me a thru tactical bassin…they catch’em. They’re good. I was really impressed with the Redbreast I bought last St Patty"s Day and they subsequently own the Irish whiskey segment of my collection. Curious to hear what you think of Powers. Quote
