Much cooler weather here today and my lady is going to a concert with her brother and sister,so that means bourbon night for me. Gonna make some grilled pork belly and charred Serrano tacos to get a good base down. Went and did a little shopping, had $100 on me and walked out with 3 bottles I've never tried. Four roses single barrel, George Dickel 8yr (recommended by the store owner) and JTS Brown( always looking for a new budget daily drinker, heard good things). Plan to try a little of each and whatever one I'm feeling ill finish the night with a generous pour of it.

Had a spicy Bloody Mary with a spotted cow chaser to start the afternoon, then did a local Hazy and after a pontoon ride did a Jack and ooooppppps, no coke so I mixed it with a Dr Pepper Cream Soda to take the bite off.

Can we be friends?

@TOXIC what is a spotted cow chaser?

@DitchPanda amaretto sour?

I think I just found my new favorite thread here Drunk Head First GIF by Barstool Sports

I'm usually a something and soda kinda guy, fireball and cream soda is like a liquid cinnamon bun. Or a shot of fireball and rum chatta..  breakfast in a shot glass baby

Tonight we're trying the summertime natty ice strawberry lemonade and some white claw surge.

Yep-So take a rocks glass and fill it with ice. Then fill half way with whiskey sour mix and half way with Amaretto which is an almond liqueur.

As far as being friends it is possible unless your the guy falling off that bar stool. I've already got friends I gotta babysit when we drink!

Sometimes I'm that guy, I'll be honest. But I'll be the most honest friend you have... probably why I don't have a lot of friends...

I'm certainly intrigued, I'm new to enjoying that amaretto flavor. Was weird to me before, but it grows on ya.

Where in Iowa did you ocean fish?

Ha...no ocean in Iowa. I'm originally from Texas...outside of Houston close to the gulf coast.

Only available in Wisconsin which is where I happen to be.  Will be bringing multiple cases back to Virginia when we leave.

Went to The Answer Brewpub in Richmond a couple weeks back to

meet one of our sons and his girlfriend. I had the Tunnel 2 Mekong.

A triple hazy IPA that was outstanding. The Diablo Quy Brunch was great, too.

And the whiskey hunting/ buying streak continues! Yesterday we ran to Sioux Falls for sushi, on the way out of town we stopped at the biggest liquor store around here- Williquors. Ended up getting a bottle of Lagavulin 8 and finally got a bottle of Barrel Seagrass rye. The lagavulin was smoky and delicious--no surprise. The Seagrass being 118.2 proof was straight fire neat..all I got was Ethanol on the nose and burn on the palate. I let it sit in the glass and open up for 15 minutes then dropped a couple ice cubes in it...it was really something after that. Very unique..never tasted anything like it.

Haha I often some too when I’m there. Most of the places I see only have 12 packs though, not cases.

There’s a good selection of case packaging here both cans and bottles.  I prefer bottles.  There’s also a seasonal spotted cow and an 12 pack of all the versions from New Glarus.  Off to find another bottle of Cherry Vodka made from Door County cherries.  We made some Wisconsin mules with it and they were awesome.

I made the mistake of buying that sampler 12 pack once.  I thought I had bought Spotted Cow.  At least half of it was undrinkable.  Won't make that mistake again.

I'm not big on flavored whiskeys. I saw this one yesterday and grabbed it. I bet I could knock the whole thing back in an hour. 60 proof dessert.

I'm with you on this man...I generally like my whiskey to taste like whiskey. But from time to time I find a flavored whiskey that hits just right...a guy can get in trouble fast. The crown royal flavored offerings are particularly tasty.

I'll probably never buy this again. It's good. Tasty. But, I view it as a dessert drink similar to Kahlua.

I could definitely see that. When I want a sweet dessert drink its either an amaretto sour or white russian.
