MMCS Goes well with a cigar, but I always get this earthy mushroom funk when I have it neat. I'm a big fan of the MM46 Cask Strength though, our local Costco got tons of it a couple years ago.

2 from last night, searching through the fridge for some singles.

Founders was 18 months old and still great, Horny Goat someone must have brought it over and it was ok, nothing great.

Both were 8.5%, so 2 were enough ??

If you like the Double Rye and feel like buying something a bit more pricey I highly recommend the High West Rendezvous.  Taste it one time and you'll know instantly why it costs more than the Double Rye.  I can't afford to drink it often though!

I've looked at it several times and thought man when I've got extra coin laying around I'm picking that up. My problem is I like a sweeter rye...then I found Michters rye and for what I'm looking for it can't be beat for $45 a bottle.

Well, now I'm going to try that.  I would also suggest Woodford Reserve Rye.  It's a 51% rye mashbill with an awesome caramel palate.

Everybody I've suggested it to has liked it, even my girlfriend who hates whiskey said wow that's actually kinda good. I will warn you, its not peppery and spicy like a typical Rye its more subdued and sweet similar to a bourbon with just a hint of spice. I adore it. Let me know what you think.

Well, this will likely be my last post.  My electronics will be gone in a couple weeks.  House gone in a month.  You'll find me living in a cardboard box on @DitchPanda's lawn.  But I'll have some Michter's with me if you need a drink...wow.

Understatement!  It's like a dessert.  Interestingly, I won't be able to do "several" just because it's so much toffee and caramel, but wow, it's perfect for one or two pours.  Thank you very much for suggesting it.  It will always be in our bar now.

Its my favorite whiskey and I can even get it in my small town for around $45 a bottle. Glad you like it!

First time I had Michters was on page 14 of this thread. Lol Went out for dinner on my birthday during the covid lockdowns here in IL. I had to go to a neighboring county because of the restaurant vax mandates in Crook County. The neighboring county didn't have vax restrictions but they were short handed on employees. They didn't have a bartender at the restaurant. The waitress takes me up to the bar and asks what I want. I had never had Michters so I said "I'll try this one" 1 became 2 became 3...I should have asked...$15 a glass ain't cheap. Could have bought a bottle for what it cost me for 3 drinks BUT, it introduced me to a new fantastic bourbon.

Im actually having some of the bourbon right now. I prefer the rye but the bourbon is also tasty stuff. Both are a steal at under $50 a bottle.

Many of your posts in this thread are available directly at buffalo trace and for crazy cheap, I smell a road trip to Frankfort, KY in your future……

 

I’ve been 5-6 times because my wife loves the idea, history, and distilling process of bourbon, not so much on drinking it haha

So I picked up a new to me 12 pack tonight. I chose this based on these from earlier this week. Hindsight being 20/20 I’ll pick up a 12 pack of the Sierra Nevada “Big Little Thing” next time or the “Atomic Torpedo” as I enjoyed the flavor of both of them a little bit more.
