Thinking about going with Ardbeg Ten next week. Not sure?

If you've never had an Islay scotch, try a dram at a bar before you shell out $50. It's heavily peated, so it can taste like a wet sock that was soaked in campfire ashes, or it can be delicious to some people.

I always warn people when they come over to my house and try Islay that it tastes like a log from a fire that burned out yesterday . But i do love it hahaha

I now have a couple bottles that weren’t finished, because I cut back on how much I’ve been drinking to just Friday and Saturday.

Im one of those people that gets on a kick of whatever and does it too much for a while. I’m on a scotch kick, so I stopped tonight and grabbed a bottle of Ardbeg 10. Yes, it’s Thursday, but I had to try the pleated stuff. Can’t drink tomorrow. It’s good. I see why people like it. But, seriously, I’m a little more sweet and fruity and delicately complex than this  ?

Tastes like a wood burning engine on a wooden ship that’s burning too much oil in an ocean of seaweed. It goes good with home made whipped cream, though. Definitely adding it to my ribs Saturday.

No problem drinking this. I used to drink jagermeister and rumpleminz. Waaaay better than that. Plus, according to the bottle it’s related to my Viking heritage.

Note: that was a joke (not that there’s anything wrong with it).

I had been trying different bourbons, but had forgotten how good Wild Turkey 101 was. Picked up a bottle the other day and I've been drinking that the past few nights.  For 101 proof it's so good and so smooth.  It's funny because in college several years ago, we thought Wild Turkey was the devil juice.  We just were misinformed back then.

I dig the new bottle WT101 has now too with the embossed turkey on it.

I never pass by one of those "Ten best..." lists you run into on the 'net.  I believe I've seen WT 101 score high on a list or two, up against some pretty fancy competitors.

Folks often overlook the common, everyday boozes as a place to look for a favorite.  Heck, my favorite rye for years was cheap ol' George Dickel.  (Didn't Dickel used to distill it themselves?  I believe it's an MGP product now.)  "Taste" is what YOU like, not what someone tells you should be liked...

Tonight I'm enjoying a glass of Connemara peated Irish whiskey

Since it’s like a bottle of 80 proof liquid smoke, I figured why not. Strangely, it adds that fresh hay taste you get a few seconds after you take a sip to the ribs, instead of the smoke flavor.

My first time having it. Was a gift from one of my customers. Not too shabby. I generally don't drink scotch. I like it better than Glenlivet or Glenfiddich. Way better than Dewars.
