I am in the market for a spinning reel and am leaning towards the 2500/3000 size. Was pretty set on buying a Stradic Ci4+ but there seems to be a lot of love for the Daiwa Tatula LT as well. I am getting interested in the 3000CXH model. I am confused, though, about the design. It is a larger size, still is very light and offers less line capacity so you do not waste as much? It sounds like this particular model is kind of a best of all worlds kind of thing but I am not smart enough to understand what all is going on with it. Can someone educate me?

Also at what model do they go from the smaller handle to the T shaped model?

The C stands for compact. Meaning it's a 3000 size spool on a 2500 sized frame. The 3000-CXH doesn't really have a shallower spool. It's a normal Daiwa 3000 spool. For some reason, they've been putting extra deep spools on most of their US releases. There is a 3000D Tatula LT as well, but I don't know why anyone would want that much line. It'd hold like 300 yards of 15lb braid ?

Well what is the "advantage" of a 3000 spool on a 2500 frame? I'd think 2500 of both or 3000 of both would be fine.

Also do you know at which model they change from the smaller handle to the T handle?

In theory, the 3000 spool should handle heavier lines better due to a wider diameter spool. I've never seen much difference as usually they're a mm or two wider than the 2500, which is pretty insignificant.

The 3000 has the T knob, 2500 has an I knob.

The Tatula LT 3000CXH has the same line capacity as the 2000 LT but with a much wider spool. The advantage is that the coils coming off your spool will be wider because of the spool size. You will have less tangles, and over all line management will be better. I use both reels, and love them both. I never have any issues with any of the 4 I have (2-2000 and 2-3000) All are loaded with 8lb and 15lb Power Pro. The bodies of the two reels are pretty close in size, but the handle on the 3000 has a T handle and a little longer length handle. Great reels.Bass fishing doesn't require lots of line capacity.

Do you know if the "handle" is the same size/length and connection gear on the 2500 and 3000 is the same to where is I wanted the I knob on the 3000 I could just swap the "handle or arm as it were" out and they would work flawlessly?

I believe you can just switch out the knobs.

When I had the T knobs on my daiwa reels , I would put the cork I knobs on them.

I have the 3000cxh and it is a great finesse reel.  You can still get a LOT of 10# braid on that sucker but it will launch small baits very easily.

I took the t-knob off and replaced it with a regular daiwa knob from one of my baitcast reels.

I use 8lb Tatsu on my 3000 and it handles it great, even when it's really cold out and the line gets stiffer.
