I just received a few Curve 55s(3/8oz , dives 5-9 ft)and I was surprised at how small they are. My question for those who use them is, do you throw them on casting or spinning gear, they seem too small and light for any of my cranking set ups. Any advice/info is appreciated.

I cast them on a medium/moderate action rod no problem.  The lure is pretty compact and cast pretty well IMO.  I am using 10 lb Yozuri Hybrid.

Excellent crankbait bye the way.  Grind them in rocks all day...

I throw them on a 6'10 M Zodias casting rod and it handles them just fine.

Edit* Using 14 lb Sniper

Yeah casting for sure. I can throw them on either of my crankbait setups, Legend Glass 610 MM and Avid 7 MM

I threw them on my M/H Dobyns Fury casting rod over the winter, and caught several so that seemed to work okay. Granted people say the Fury line tends to lean a little to the soft side, but it's definitely stiffer than my M spinning rod.

Curve 55 is definitely a great crankbait. In particular it gets a lot of acclaim as a cold water crankbait, similar to the reputation of the Wiggle Wart. I haven't had an opportunity to throw it in warmer weather yet but they did do the trick for me in cold water this winter.

The Curve 55 is one of my favorite cranks.  I use a Megabass Orochi XX Swingfire with a Tatula Elite loaded with 20 lb Sufix 832 and a short mono leader and it casts a mile.  Well maybe not a mile..lol

I agree.

I throw my Crush 50s 3/8oz crankbait on casting gear, med/mod rod, 10# Yo-Zuri Hybrid. No problems.

I think they do work better in cold water. I prefer to switch to a Spro Lil John MD when the water warms up after the spawn.

A bit off topic, my next crankbait rod would be one of these two to complement my Premier MH/M which I really like. How do they compare to each other? I haven't used a glass rod but have heard great things about the legend glass.

I own the Legend Glass 72MM and 74MHM. Medium rod has 14lb mono and is a terrific squarebill/med crank rod. I also use itspooks, poppers, and wakebaits. It may not have the fast tip some prefer for topwater but once you are hooked up they're likely not coming off and working the baits isnt too tough.

My 74MHM has 12lb works great for deep cranks up to about 15-17ft and right about at the 1oz mark. You can go past that, push it to 20ft and a bit over 1oz but it starts to become work.

It's 3/8 oz - I would say it can be used on either spinning or casting.  For someone proficient with a bc though it shouldn't be a problem.  My cut off for bc lures is usually anything under a 1/4 oz on traditional gear.

Yup. I was just about to reply and mention that I can't think of anything about a Curve 55 that'd make it any more difficult to cast than any other 3/8 oz plug I've ever had tied on. I throw 50mm-sized squarebills with a M/mod casting setup more than I have any right to.

I like the baits and have had some success with them.

Initially I was throwing them with a - 7' MH Mod with 15 lb FC

It was too much rig.

Switched to a 7' M Mod - with 12lb FC - Much Better.

Personally, other than a shad rap, I can't do cranks on spinning gear.

Hurts my brain.

I'm a huge crankbait fan and honestly it's the most fun rod I own. In fact I'll probably soon get another. I much prefer the glass over the composite.

My Premier MH/M is actually graphite and Im worried that since I do like it so much I won't like the feel of the M/M if I jump to legend glass. Thats why I'd consider getting the graphite Avid M/M. But with how much praise the legend glass gets I dont think itd be a mistake.

To keep things on topic, If i get another cranking rod itd be a M/M which sounds like itd be perfect for the curve 55. Id have to add them to my bag and see how they compare with the wiggle wart which Ive come to love.
