Anyone hear rumors yet ?

Posted

Just speculation but this may be one of the worst years for new releases with Icast and other shows being cancelled.  Not to mention all the manufacturing delays and what not due to Covid 19.

Either way I am guessing we will not get to see anyone's full line they planned on releasing...

My guess.... Anything they already make for the Japanese market will probably arrive hear rather than new models or updates.  A few possibilities .... the Calcutta BFS, the Calcutta Conquest DC, something like the Scorpion BFS or the Aldebaran MGL 30.   BFS reels are big in Japan now.  I have a feeling they will make it over here eventually.

Last generation they released the Stradic FK, then the CI4+ FB, so I'm guessing there will be a new CI4+ at some point later this year. There's an SLX 70 in Japan, so maybe that will make its way over. There's also a Scorpion MGL, so I would assume the Curado will get an MGL spool upgrade in the next year or so.

Looking forward to a Curado model with an MGL spool ... Definitely hoping to see that soon !

Just out of curiosity, is your name a reference to the y-d Red Sox? Between them and Harwich, I probably go to a dozen ccl games a year

I’m more of a Gateman guy ....

But a huge Sox fan and I have fished the cape for 40 years

Very nice

My favorite pond on the cape is sand pond over in harwich. Nobody really fishes it and it’s unpowered for the most part (although I have seen canoe people with trolling motors out there). But it’s 30 acres of bass fishing paradise. Docks, pads, lay downs, reeds, offshore stuff, the works...all on this peaceful little pond.

Would not be surprised at all if they make a new model of the curado in the next year or two with K being around for awhile. I’d like to see a revamped version of the tranx 500 although it is still an incredible reel, it is getting up in age also. With them phasing out the curado 70 I could see them making a new 50 size like the aldebaren. Who knows what it will be, as long as it’s not in the $500 range I’ll probably be buying one.

+1 for the Stradic Ci4+ since Cabela's is marking them down from $229 to $149 for their Father's Day sale starting Thursday. Seems like premium Shimano reels never go on sale like that with major retailers unless it's going to be closed out. Heck of a deal on a heck of a real.

I was thinking the exact same thing, no way that a new one isnt around the corner with a 80$ off fathersday sale haha

Same, I have a couple and don't need another spinning reel but I'm probably going to grab one.

Back to new Shimano models, I don't think we'll see a lot announced due to the Coronavirus.

they are still doing virtual icast this year so i would assume we should still see announcements for some of the new stuff. but i suppose it depends how there production schedules were aftected. theres a real chance that this sale was put into the works months before all the covid stuff kicked off so they may just be honoring the arrangment. but im really hoping we still get some new releases come july
