Super User slonezp Posted June 6, 2020 Super User Posted June 6, 2020 It got me emotional. I might see them once or twice a year or not at all. With all that has been happening in the last 2 months...2 weeks...around the U.S. I felt sad, I felt good. What made it more special is I was just outside Green Bay and I was wearing a Chicago Bears t-shirt. The stars were aligned. I believe I'm not alone here on BR in saying we'll get thru this and we'll come out stronger than ever. Be true to yourself and be loyal to your morals and values. We live in the land of the free and the home of the brave. Never forget that. 9 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 6, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2020 So much I want to say. This past week has been hard. So many emotions, so many feelings and having to hold them inside even more than normal. Just trying to hold onto hope that something positive comes out of it. 10 1 Quote

Super User NorcalBassin Posted June 8, 2020 Super User Posted June 8, 2020 I had a similar experience that same day. We see ospreys flying around and getting fish all of the time, but it's been years since I've seen a bald eagle let alone up close. I stopped fishing for about 5 minutes to watch it eat its fish and then eventually get tired of the turkey vultures getting closer and closer for scraps. The pics didn't turn out well due to the sun shining right at us, but it was pretty awesome and a bit metaphorical. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted June 8, 2020 Super User Posted June 8, 2020 During the Fall and Winter I see American bald eagles in some of the places I fish in Florida. This past November I saw an American bald eagle swoop down to a river and catch a bass. They are beautiful birds and they are a sign of a healthy ecosystem. 1 Quote
GReb Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Saw one earlier this spring. It was holding itself in the wind about 150 feet above the lake while hunting. It sat in one spot for probably 15 minutes without flapping a single wing. Was one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen Quote
Dirtyeggroll Posted June 9, 2020 Posted June 9, 2020 Since Thanksgiving I have “adopted” a whole group of Bald Eagles driving back and forth from Omaha to Kansas City on I-29. At one point around Christmas time there were about 20 of them in the same tree. A few weeks ago you could see some of the chicks bobbing their little heads around. It’s been pretty awesome. I see at least 4 on every trip. Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 9, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 9, 2020 There are several that live around my house, and I live 3 miles from the middle of downtown. You can see them basically everyday if you are on the river long enough. There were two living in tall pines where I camped in south Alabama during Memorial Day week. Then on this weekends camping trip, one flew straight down the gorge close to the water at the campground before we even shoved off. I’ve got too many pictures of them to count, my buddy calls them “buzzards wearing tuxedos” haha 2 Quote
