Herbert Lorenzo Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Well after finally putting away all my rods after bass fishing , I now focus on putting away some of the tackle boxes that I carry on the boat . So much tackle , some of these plastics have been untouched for years . Am I odd or do others carry tackle that we will never use ? Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Last week I caught a 2-3/4 lb. bass on a 40-45 year old plastic worm. Jus’ sayin’! 3 1 Quote

FishinBuck07 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 You are just fine man! We all have that sickness, it is part of the bass fishing world! Quote
Captain Phil Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I can hardly lift my tackle box. When I go fishing, I always fish with the same 3-4 things. Back in the day when I fished tournaments, I was afraid my co-boater would catch fish on something I did not have in that box. That never happened. We have been conditioned to think the more lures we have the better fisherman we are. This goes for rods, reels, boats and all kinds of gadgets. I once had an electronic box that was suppose to tell me what color lures to use. It stuck on black. Some anglers swear by the lunar tables. They have never worked for me. If your watch stops running, it will be right two times each day. :>) 1 Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I won't say I carry a lot of tackle that I will never use, but some of it is very situational. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I carry a lot of tackle in my boat. A lot of it is soft plastics I want to use and not get any more of them. I keep trying to eliminate some soft plastics but I'm not making any progress as I keep buying others to try. 2 Quote
Super User Bird Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I'm actually a minority, Only carry proven baits over a long span of fishing........if it doesn't produce, it's out. Thrown 6 baits from Jan 1st 2020. Lol They produce, they keep getting wet. 1 Quote
keagbassr Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I definitely bring to much. I've got stuff that never sees the light of day all season and also bring backups to backups of stuff I do use. Quote

Born 2 fish Posted June 6, 2020 Posted June 6, 2020 I’m going fishing in the morning I’m only bringing 4 rods. And 4 different lures. I’m kind of freaking out thinking I need to bring a boat full of lures. Quote

I’m kind of freaking out thinking I need to bring a boat full of lures. I went bank fishing yesterday with one rod and one lure. I had an hour to fish and tied one on and went for it. Brought the backpack just in case. It's awesome just walking and covering water without "doubt" entering your mind. Well I had doubt that I'd catch fish but I rarely do there anyways. But I mean I didn't even consider changing baits - it was kind of "freeing" in a way. I liked it. Bait of choice was a crankbait. These banks are good for one. 1 Quote

PaulVE64 Posted June 13, 2020 Posted June 13, 2020 (edited) I have been creek fishing alot this year. If I know the water I'm throwing at I can take one rod and 3 lures of 2 different colours each. If I'm not familiar with the water I will bring a 2nd rod and few more lures to suit that rod. I strip it down because if I don't I'll be switching bait every 3rd cast.
