Super User whitwolf Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 There will be little information that hasn't been said before. Some will pass this by simply because it's not lure specific. And there will be some folks that are simply not interested. That's fine. For those that take the time, I intend to pass along a few things that I have learned from Bassresource beginning January 9th 2009. i found this wonderful place searching for fishing forums. I learned very quickly(and thankfully) that drama was virtually non-existent. I knew then I had found a home. I know people are hesitant at times to participate for fear of being new to the forum. I know some folks are intimidated by some of the great fisherman that reside here. I know some might think they have a dumb question and are afraid to ask. Please don't worry about these things. This is a generous group and not once in my time here has a member ever failed to answer any of my questions. The biggest majority have answered in greater detail than I could have imagined! Time on the water is the greatest teacher out there. That's a fact. But reading this forum and asking questions is a great supplement to our quest to be a better fisherman than we were yesterday. And it's free to boot! Thank you @Glenn! i truly can't name all the folks that have helped me become a better fisherman. To name a few though; @A-Jay, @Catt, @WRB, @Dwight Hottle, @Bluebasser86, @RoLo, and many others. If y'all will pay close attention to these folks you will learn a great deal. I would dearly love to share a boat with them and whether we caught fish or not I know it would be a great time! The point of this long winded post is to let y'all know that if you want to learn there's no greater fishing forum to do so and there are a good number of great people always willing to help. 21 5 Quote

Super User Bird Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Great post. Even as an older fisherman I've gained alot of knowledge here. No intimidation but considerable respect. 1 Quote
Super User soflabasser Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Well said @whitwolf. Time on the water is the best teacher but you can learn a lot from members in this forum. 1 Quote
Jleebesaw Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 This is one of the only forums on ANY subject that is worth reading. Seems like everything stays respectful and the catty stuff gets shut down by moderators. 1 Quote

Super User Mobasser Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 whitwolf, I agree 100%. This is the only fishing site I belong to. It's the best, hands down. I joined in March 2018. I'm a better fisherman now. 3 Quote
Super User WRB Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 We all learn from each other by sharing our life experience. If I helped one angler then my goal is fulfilled. Thank you! Tom 7 2 Quote
Super User DitchPanda Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Amen to all that my brothers! I only joined a few months back but I lurked a long time prior and wish I woulda got on board a long time ago. This place is definitely somewhere where somebody will know a little something about anything you can come up with. It's great for advice and as a sounding board for ideas but it also a great place for just reading a good story from time to time. For instance their is a topic by Paul Roberts about ice out and bloody fingers that I've read a bunch of times. Sure there's good info in it but what makes me come back is the way it's written. The day by day observational break down style is very reminiscent to me of Doug Stange from In Fisherman which is high praise as far as I'm concerned...Stange being an all time favorite of mine amongst outdoor writers. This is just one example of the goodness to be found in here. 3 Quote
Super User Hammer 4 Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 This is great. And long over due imho. Those mentioned, and others have what seems like they have devoted a Lot of time and effort in helping educate new anglers, so a BIG thank you to you guys. Me, I'm kind of an old grouch, too lazy most times to type out a long answer most times. Like most of you, I'm still learning new things, thanks to the generous members here. 2 Quote
Super User Dwight Hottle Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Thanks for the kind words Brad. You & I joined BR about a year apart and it's been a learning experience for both of us ever since. The wealth of knowledge on this site & the willingness of it's members to share that knowledge is truly remarkable. 1 Quote

Jaderose Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 I just looked and realized I've been on here for 6 years. I had no idea! I figure that being a part of this group for 6 years combined with my on-the-water experience in that time has moved my skill set forward about 10 years. Those extra 4 years off the backs of you guys experience is priceless 1 hour ago, scaleface said: There's an older gentleman from a couple of years back and I cant remember his name . Super User Bankbeater Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I’ve joined multiple fishing forums over the years. Most of them are gone now. This one is by far the best I’ve ever belonged to. Thank you Glenn. 2 Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 This is the only forum I am a member of. I am not a great fisherman but I try to help people when I can. I too have learned a lot being here. 2 Quote

Global Moderator Bluebasser86 Posted June 6, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 6, 2020 I enjoy talking about fishing and teaching others to fish about as much as I enjoy fishing itself. I've learned a lot from the members here in my time as a member and a moderator. Everyone has different experiences and different ways of looking at things and may approach a situation differently that I do or have a small tweak to something I do that is a big help. You never know all there is to know about fishing and I'm always looking to learn something new. 1 Quote
