Super User DitchPanda Posted June 4, 2020 Super User Posted June 4, 2020 What is your favorite finesse type worm and color? Also what is your favorite way to rig them? When the water gets hot is when I throw them in my local lake...light Carolina rig on a medium action spinning rod...about the only way I get bit n the dog days besides early and late topwater...favorite is the old havoc bottom hopper 4.75 inch in green pumpkin or junebug Quote
Super User BrianMDTX Posted June 4, 2020 Super User Posted June 4, 2020 Right now I’d say a 4” green or watermelon weightless Senko rigged wacky-style. Flipping or pitching close (10’-15’) to structure and letting it land with little to no splash. Quote
Super User Boomstick Posted June 4, 2020 Super User Posted June 4, 2020 My top is the Roboworm straight tail in 6". Aarons Morning Dawn, Aarons Magic are probably my two best color. 1 Quote
Global Moderator TnRiver46 Posted June 4, 2020 Global Moderator Posted June 4, 2020 Zoom , color depends on location. Rigged weedless on an 1/8 oz round ball jig head 4 Quote

Super User Bankbeater Posted June 4, 2020 Super User Posted June 4, 2020 4" Zoom finesse worm on either a split shot rig or weightless. Best colors for me are black grape and watermelonseed. 2 Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 4, 2020 Super User Posted June 4, 2020 I throw finesse worms quite a bit. I like Zoom finesse in junebug, CB slider in grape, Roboworm 41/2" in Folkstad Special. I use a light T rig, slider head, or splitshot rig. 2 Quote

evo2s197 Posted June 4, 2020 Posted June 4, 2020 This is my "finesse" go to if its extremely tough. 1/32 tungsten bullet weight Gamakatsu #4 rebarb hook Hand poured 3.5 inch worms in watermelon color and a blue brown color. If you cant catch something on this then it's time to go home 2 Quote
looking45 Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 1/32 oz worm nose head and a 4" hand poured worm in Morning Dawn Quote
Super User RoLo Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Favorites have a way varying from outing to outing ? Stickworms aside, my overall favorite straight-tail worm is probably the Roboworm Fat Straight-Tail. Other exceptional straight-tail are Upton's Straight-Tail Worm and the Zoom Trick Worm (anyone heard of that one?) Roger 1 Quote

Mbirdsley Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 Honestly, it is very rare that I get the same lure or plastic to work at 2 differnt lakes or rivers other than a tube. I tend to bounce around a lot on where I’m fishing and almost never fish the same place twice in a week. These 3 however, seem to put at least one fish in the boat no matter where I’m at. Green pumpkin zoom tube, pumpkin swamp crawlers, root beer 300 bandit crank Quote
Super User Mobasser Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I like throwing a 4.5" Roboworm on a light T rig. If you have limited fishing time, say evening trips after work etc, this rig draws more consistent action than than anything else I've used. Worked with a slow, lift/ fall retrieve, it seems like something is always taking a pop at these smaller worms. The Brewer Slider head fishing is good also, with almost any of the thinner worms available now. It's a fun way to fish because of the steady strikes, from bass of all sizes. I havnt tried even half of the finesse worms on the market now, there's so many. If I had to pick one, I'll pick the Roboworms as a favourite. I've had especially good results in hot weather with colors Folkstad Special, MM111, Marg Mutilator, and the last two seasons, Oxblood/ red flake. Even though " finesse " worms are known to work well in high pressure, clear water, post frontal, or other tough bite days, I'm convinced they will work almost any time. Bass love them. 3 Quote

Super User MIbassyaker Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 If there's a bad finesse worm, I don't know what it is. I like both straight and curly tails, between 4" and 7". Several I have enjoyed fishing over the last several years: 6.5" Zoom Trick worm, 5.5" Zoom swamp crawler 4'5" Zoom Finesse worm 6" roboworm 4" Berkley power worm 6.25" & 4.25" Berkley Havoc bottom hopper 6.5" & 4.5" biospawn plasmatail 4" & 7" Strike King 3x finesse worm (Elaztech) 6" Bizz baits dizzy diamond 6" Mister Twister Phenom worm Fish them mostly on 1/16-3/16 head of some kind (shakyhead, slider, or even open hook depending on cover), or a 1/8oz mojo/split-shot one of my favorite rigs: 4" berkley power worm rigged on an owner bullet head: Colors? Anything from straight black to bubblegum pink, but usually natural colors with the words "pumpkin", "watermelon", "grass", "seed", "magic", or "candy" in the name. My absolute favorite color is a little hard to find, and the best versions of it have either been discontinued or not available in a finesse worm: a light pumpkin with green flake. Quote
