I'm on boat by myself, with my iPhone as a camera.  I have a Bass on a normal hanging fish scale.  I can't figure out how to get the entire fish and the scale (so it shows the digital reading) all together in one picture.

My PB isn't very heavy and I intend on breaking it my next trip out!  With that in mind, help!

Thanks as always.

Hold out the fish as far from your body as possible with one hand and hold the camera close to your body with the other hand. Have taken many pictures of big bass being weighed this way and the pictures come out good.

I put a piece of Velcro on back of the seat in the front & and more velcro on an old phone case when I go fishing alone. I use the timer function to take pics. Try it in driveway to figure where to stand, zoom etc

It is gonna be tough getting whole fish with readable scale by yourself. I usually take two picture one with fish and another just scale. At angle downward you can read scale but fish not gonna look good.

You can use a selfie stick. But I agree- taking a pic with you, the entire fish and the scale will likely result in a unreadable scale in the photo.

I don't find photographing my catch important enough to bother with.  My memory does a better job of "growing" a bass over time...

Take a look at the self timer features on your phone. It should allow you to prop the phone against something and get the picture you want.

Lets just be honest: selfies never look very good and you likely won't get the frame you want to doing it.  So unless you have someone else with you to take a photo, be aware that trying to do it all by yourself isn't going to work.

Get a good selfie pic of the fish without blatant straight arming 6" from the camera.  Then take another pic of the scale.  Or go the Kayaker way and photo on a bump board and talk length.

That's pretty much the answer. With my phone I can press a button and say "take a photo" and it will in about 4 seconds, or you can set a timer. You just need a little tripod or velcro, as suggested above.

If you're on shore - well I have a bunch of GoPro mounts that I can also use with a phone with some easy modifications. Clamp it to a nearby tree branch, set it on a rock. Be prepared so you don't have to mess around after the catch. I have my phone and scale ready to go.

I wear a GoPro so I only will take a separate photo if it's something special.

A self timer is about the only way you're going to get the whole fish and scale in the picture and have it turn out very decent. A selfie stick works okay.
