Iv tossed around the idea of posting this back for forth for quite a while, but finally decided Imma go ahead and post. I understand that I may get razzed a lil bit for this but oh well! I can get a wide array of feedback here from people of all ages and lifestyles, so why not..

In a month I turn 30.. It’s kinda hittin me hard. Society tells me that It’s time to do some growing up, but I just don’t want to! I still feel like I’m 21 a lot of the time. I like to party with friends, and get a little rowdy from time to time. I’m born and raised in the south and have southern culture instilled in me, so I like to hunt, fish, sometimes get a little dirty. I also like popular music, specifically modern country. I still listen to what’s  hot on the radio, and although the music isn’t necessarily unrelatable to me, I know that popular music is aimed toward the younger crowd. What am I “supposed” to listen to the older I get?

With all this being said, I’ll also note that Im married and am a homeowner. It’s not like I’m still in my parents basement and feel it’s time to finally start an adult life.

30 years old and feel like I’m caught smack in the middle of still being really young, and weirdly feeling like I’m getting too old for certain things. Anyone wanna give me some input on this?

I’m over twice your age so you aren’t getting any sympathy from me for turning 30. As for what music you are “supposed” to listen to, you should listen to music that you like. Country, rap, classical, whatever you like doesn’t matter what age you are.

I was basically the same at 30.  Now I’m 32 with a baby and can count the number of beers I’ve had in last 3 months on one finger. Life comes at you fast. Live it up

My girlfriend turned 30 last month and was freaked out about it until it got here and nothing changed. She works at a daycare so she gets to watch cartoons..do fun science experiments stuff..go to the pool...these things keep her young. I say if you and your significant other are happy..then keep doing your thing.

I agree with Scotts outlook on music...another case of you do your thing. When I was 30 I liked to drink party hang with friends. I just turned 37 last week. Pretty much spend all my time working fishing and hanging out with my woman. We had her sister and brother in law over for dinner and drinks last saturday...first time in months I had more than 2 beers in a sitting.

Here's how I figure it: as long as you're taking care of your family, you're all the "grown up" that you need to be. Family comes first. As for all the rest, it's just icing on the cake.    jj

Twice your age here and I listen to things my wife can't believe I like - symphonic metal for one.

I may get older but I refuse to 'grow up'...I've lived my life this way and it's been much more fun.

As Mr. Franco said - the aches will come...but even at 60 I can still do the things I want to do - so it's not all bad.

Now my wife is all upset - she hits 55 in two weeks.

Well, I'll be 63 in October. I get up every morning at 5:30, and stiff leg it to the coffee maker, then read through some threads on BR before I leave for work. You will reach a point where you'll slow down some. It happens. Keep on fishing as much as you can, and take care of yourself. Don't sweat it. 30 seems like century's ago now....

It's just a number, keep living your life and enjoying it, that is what we are suppose to do.  Throw away the rule book and enjoy being and feeling young while you can, and who knows one day you may be lucky enough to be considered an old fart.

It becomes harder and harder to find the time you want to do the things you want to.  So if you have that time right now, continue to do it and enjoy it.  My Grandfather once told me before he died "life is measured by the amount of time you have to do the things you enjoy."

Additionally, maintaining your health will become more difficult as you age too.  Its a lot easier to stay in shape than it is to get back into shape.  You've already heard some of the older fellas comment about that.

 Exactly.  LOL

Like Teal said,  focus on family.   I'll add in there future also.  To me 30 was a big one.  Many things that were "important" to me in my 20's became insignificant and come full circle back to Family.  For me the 30-40 is where I really focused on family and focused on my future.  I dont want to say it, but retirement.  IMO these 10 years will set that up.

BTW,  Happy early Birthday.

I'm 73 years old.   You may be surprised to learn that in my mind I am still 30.  I married my high school sweetheart and we are still going strong.   I don't consider her as being any different than when we were dating.  I can do anything as good as I always did... once.  Sometimes my body reminds me that I'm 73.  I try not to let that keep me from doing the things I love.

The major difference in me now and then is I am a lot wiser.  When things go wrong, I don't dwell on them because I know I can overcome anything except death.   Death does not bother me because I am happy with my life and have no regrets.  When you get old like me, you will spend a lot of time thinking about the past.  You want those memories to be good.  Take your time, enjoy life, be responsible but don't worry about things you can not control.  In the end family and memories are all you will have, make the best of them.

It's your life - the only one you get - live it the way you want.

It goes by fast and tomorrow isn't guaranteed to any of us.

Going forward - the more times you end up saying "I should have," "I could have" or "I would have"

- those are missed opportunities you may not get another shot at.

Do it your way and own it.

Finally, instead of focusing on the number as your age,

perhaps instead think of it as 'levels'.

Level 30 sounds way cooler . . . .

Have fun.

Lol, figured the older folks would chime in.

59 here, wife is 54 and we are empty nesters and acting like kids again.

Drinking plenty of wine and listening to loud music around the firepit nightly.

We listen to everything from Marvin Gay, Elton John to 4 non blondes and Kenny Chesney.

Lately she's really liking Sam Smith.

You have a lot of good years ahead of you.....love a lot and live a lot.

Turning 30, hittn me hard!!

Hopefully, you're just kidding, because that's a damaging mindset that doesn't bode well.

In my 30s, I was so busy with so many things, I never had one second to give age any thought.

As a result, my 30s flew by in a wink, but I knew that I wasn't even close to running out of decades.

The first time I actually stopped long enough to give age a thought, was my 70th birthday.

Now that I'm crowding 80, I confess that I can't backdown a launch ramp with 1 finger anymore.

I guess I'm a has-been...Oh to be 65 again.  ?

1.  Take care of family.
2.  Be kind to your knees!

3. Be kind to your back

I'm 66. Just "celebrated" my first year on Medicare. Except for some arthritis in my knees and ankles I feel great. I'm definitely younger than my dad was at this age. In spite of the wear and tear on my joints I believe my trade (painting) has kept me functional. My dad retired before he was 60 and just sat.

Carpe diem, as tomorrow is promised to no one .

That said, if you live large, your body will remind you when you hit 40.

I am twice your age and should have been fertilizer over a decade ago.

Pain is a constant and I have zero regrets.

live as you wish.

The last item on my bucket list will be checked this October
