Super User Log Catcher Posted June 2, 2020 Super User Posted June 2, 2020 Got to go try out a new lake today I had found last week. Had no luck at all. Had very few bites. Did have one small one on that got off before I got it to the boat. Water temp was in the mid 70s and about a foot of visibility with clear blue skies and a little windy at times. I guess we fish about 4.5 hours. All of the bites I had came on a Zoom U Tail purple worm. 1 Quote
Herbert Lorenzo Posted June 5, 2020 Posted June 5, 2020 New locations hold secrets . Had that happen before , not that rare . One of the best ways to break the ice and help figure what they want is to troll some baits slowly behind boat . Try different type lures ,this allows you to cover more water , different depths and start catching fish . Hope that helps . 1 Quote

Excellent suggestion The lost art of trolling has often bailed me out Roger Quote
Super User Bankbeater Posted June 5, 2020 Super User Posted June 5, 2020 Don’t give up on it yet. I almost never have luck the first time on a new lake. It takes me 3 or 4 trips to figure the lake out sometimes. Quote
Super User Log Catcher Posted June 5, 2020 Author Super User Posted June 5, 2020 I haven't done any trolling in years. We fished in some necks and coves without any bites. I finally spotted a bank with some rock on it that is when the bites started even though they weren't really going after it. Fishing plain banks with lay down cover nothing happened. Had to be on rocky banks with lay down cover to get any bites. Quote
