Best Place to Purchase Old/Used Kayaks

What's up,

 

I have been thinking about buying a kayak ($1,000-$2,000). I am curious If there are any websites/stores to purchase old or used kayaks. I know some stores carry previous year model kayaks and sell them for a bargain, but I am having a hard time finding them. Is there a website? I know Facebook market place has them, but I really could use y'alls help.

Facebook, Craigslist, Letgo, etc.  The usual places for finding used items are probably your best bet.  Kayaks are large and heavy, so shipping costs will probably kill any chance at saving money buying used from non-local sellers.  

 

You might look for any kayak specific stores near you.  The only one near me does sell used kayaks.  But they mostly deal in higher end kayaks, so even their used kayaks are over a grand.  For me, the cheapest places to find kayaks were big box stores like Walmart, Dick's, BPS, etc.  Most of the individuals on the internet selling their old kayaks near me were all asking for more money for a used kayak than I could find that exact same model for new.  I'm not sure if they got ripped off when they initially bought them and then over estimated their worth, or if they just didn't believe in depreciation.  Either way, I wound up buying new after a few months of looking at used ones.  Your area might be different, however.

Quick search looking at DSG they have several sit in and sit on top fishing kayaks detween $400-$800 with $100 off sale going on now.

Usually a better place for WW and touring type boats is https://canoes-for-sale.com.  Occasionally, they'll have a fishing type kayak.  Craigslist and Facebook Marketplace are the places people sell these types of things normally.  Make sure you know the regular retail price for kayaks.  Used ones, even lightly, should be substantially discounted.  Kayaks go on sale every year at the end of the paddling season.
